So Far So Good!

This is the second day of bootcamp and there are only two problems I have...I am sore from Wii bowling and the last two days, I have not eaten the minimum amount of calories I am supposed to have. I am full before I can eat that much. According to what SP calculated, I am supposed to eat between 1850-2200 calories a day. That is a lot of food. Yesterday I ate 1,137 calories and today I ate 1,397 calories. The only thing that bothers me is that, if I get to where I hit a plateau, I will need to drop the amount of calories and if I start out too low, I will have a hard time cutting back. Plateaus have been my downfall in the past. I have lost some weight and then hit a plateau. After about 4 months of a plateau (and not cheating), I gave up and you know what happened...I gained it back plus extra. That is the biggest reason that I have some fear of even trying again. Hopefully this time, I will get past any plateaus I face.

    Hey, Pat.....we ALL have plateaus along the way. Lots of good articles here on sparky giving you tips for getting past 'em. I hit one awhile back, had to kinda tweak my exercises and such, but it finally got going again. But they ARE discouraging.......that's what happened to me the last time I tried to follow a diet plan, I was with LA Weight and got to 195 and just never could manage to get below that...so finally just gave up and ended up at 265. Ugh. But don't give up this time......you might just have to play around with the calories and exercises to get it going again, but it WILL go if you just stick with it. Will be thinking good thoughts for ya, I know you can do it! emoticon

    All the best to you in reaching your goals. I could never eat what the recommended amount is so I just set my max amount to the min amount and took off 300 calories and made that my min, which helps me.

    I know what you mean about plateaus getting you discouraged, I went through the same thing last year. Maybe we can keep each other going should either of us start to get discouraged when that happens.

    Plateaus are a problem, but that is the time to increase activity, or adjust calories. Sometimes you have to listen to your body, and adjust to your type of living. I am older, and fairly inactive, so if I eat 1200 calories it is way too much, so I have to adjust every few months.

    DO NOT GIVE UP...that is the important thing to remember.

    Yes I did that at one point. I maintained for 3 weeks and added 200 cals per day and lost weight!!
    So if you reach that point give it a go

    I have had some other folks say they did the same thing that Moon did. If you are eating too little your body seems to get used to it and holds onto food.

    When I hit a plateau I actually started eating more calories and the weight started coming off. Sometimes less is not always the way to go.
