I just had an incredible ride! I was aiming for 20 miles but only did 16.4. Why? WIND! LOL When we (David and I) headed out there was a LIGHT BREEZE out of the west. PERFECT riding weather. There was, though, a distant smudge on the northern horizon. The forcast said a front would come in around 2PM with possibly snow by 5PM so we decided to head out this morning with full understanding that it could hit earlier - it usually does. We headed south and were doing great, so great that when we got to the highway (5 miles) David wanted to turn back but I pushed for another 3 miles. Turning around the breeze had shifted to the north so we stopped to put on our wind jackets. Looking north that "smudge" had grown quite a bit and I knew we were in trouble. Not a quarter mile up the road it hit. Eye, yi-yi! And we were 8 miles from home! Well, we girded ourselves up and just kept moving. About 5 miles from home Christina called to say that MIL needed the bathroom. Uh, oh! We pushed as hard as we could but could only go between 5 and 8 mph depending on the gust and lulls. Then at 4 miles from home a neighbor pulled up beside us and asked if we wanted a ride. "No, thank you! We're fine!" Uh, huh! LOL David looked at me and yelled, "I'll bet she thinks we're crazy," to which I replied, "Yeah, but sometimes it takes CRAZY to accomplish something worthwhile!" We got home an hour and 45 minutes from our start. MIL didn't have any accident (whew!) and we BEAT THAT STINKIN' WIND!!!

Praise the Lord for GoreTex! When I got home I was SOAKING wet under the wind suit but WARM! I think I lost nearly 5 lbs of fluids! Yes, I put them back!
