Virtual Walk-Durango, Colorado

11/23/08 Durango, Colorado

This virtual walk began in Eagle, Idaho in June and will continue until I make it to my sister's house in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The trip is 994 miles and I have walked 750 miles to date! The last time I blogged, I was in southern Utah and now have crossed over to southern Colorado. The scenery would be so spectacular to see in person, but now that it is November, it would probably be very cold. A good thing about a virtual walk is that I don't have to worry about weather!

After meeting my weight loss goal in September, I have been able to maintain my goal weight for two months now. The key for me has been my exercise program. I have been pretty good in my nutrition although I no longer log my food. SparkPeople has taught me alot about proper balanced nutrition and although I stray every now and then, I get right back to the program. I truly believe keeping up the exercise has been the key in my maintenance. My fitness goals continue to be toward improving strength and endurance. This is a slower progress than the weight loss - or so it seems without the scale counting every little move. Nevertheless, exercising makes me feel so good that I make it a top priority.

I'm ready to tackle the challenges of the holidays!

    How wonderfully clever. I walk/jog in place a lot for a variety of reasons, and this just tickles me. How is this done? By adding steps or accumulating distance from walks in your area? Or via treadmill?

    Just delightful. Perhaps I'll start with a walk around a Hawaiian Island! Appreciate the inspiration! Kath
