Big 5-0 and the goal

The big 5-0 is coming soon and I've been thinking that I want it to be the beginning of a time in my life where I am older but healthy. My knees have begun to hurt! That's a wake up call. I want to give myself every opportunity to have a healthy old age.

I've decided to give myself a special reward and birthday present. My husband doesn't know yet, but I think he'll go along with it. When I've lost 50 pounds, I've decided there should be a trip to Hawaii in our future. So I changed my ticker this morning to and island theme.

My first goal is to lose 10 pounds by Christmas. The next four weeks are usually a hard time food-wise so I'm going to try to eat no sugar which will help me conrol holiday sweets.

So it's time to get serious and consistent. And to start saving money, ha, ha!

    Aloha! Sounds like a wonderful plan to me!!! SP encourages us to give ourselves rewards along the way... and I agree wholeheartedly.

    I turned 50 three years ago and you do start to have aches and pains if the weight isn't where it should be. Just like we have more confidence to speak our minds as we age, so does the ol' bod! And your knees are saying, hey, can you lighten the load a little up there??? ;-)

    I got on SP two years ago because my feet had started to grumble. I could barely walk when I got out of bed in the morning. I went to the doctor and the doctor said... it's plantar fasciitis... it might go away on it's own if you lose 20 pounds. So, I made up my mind to do it. Got on SP, and by the time I'd lost TEN pounds, it had almost gone away. By the time I'd lost 20, it was ancient history.

    So, listen to your body... it's older and wiser, too, just like you are.

    And let me tell you another little secret, the 50s are awesome!!! Wouldn't go backward for anything. Get in the best shape you can be in and be a gorgeous, healthy, positive-minded woman that feels wonderful and has more energy than she did in her forties!
