First Blog

Monday, November 03, 2008

Okay, this is my first blog. I joined Spark last January and I weigh now approximately the same thing I did when I joined. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I haven't lost weight or tried to because I have. If you add the pounds I lost and the pounds I regained, it's probably over 30 pounds. I am the queen of yo-yo, I admit it.

My goal from now until the end of the year is to end the year with the same weight my ticker shows now. It would be silly to think I could lose weight through the holidays and keep it off, if I couldn't succeed through the year up until now. So I will work on just maintaining for now. I will recommit to reaching my goals in 2009.

Rox couldn't agree more with everyone's comments - you have to remember maintenance is much better and more practical than putting the weight on - and if you keep at it - no longer how long it takes you will eventually get to where you want to be. - Besides that, I have noticed that when I stay the same weight for a while it kick starts the weight loss when I do start monitoring myself again - so every now and then if I slow down I try and maintain then I make a concerted effort to start again - it helps me stop getting bored and feeling like I'm restricted all the time. - It's all good!! emoticon

    Rox,
Great idea!! You will be still be eating healthy in order to maintain your weight and exercising, so I think that is a wonderful idea. From the beginning I had put my goal at 6 lbs for the month of December but if I don't hit that I will not give up. This is all about a new lifestyle, not a diet. I think by maintaining your weight thru the holidays you are less likely to get frustrated and give up for good!!!

I think maintaining your weight is definitely a great goal for the holidays, Rox. It sure is easy to pack on 5 - 10 pounds before you know it. Actually, I've been meaning to tell you, you look great already!!

    Rox,

You have come so far since the beginning of the year. You have been a motivator and provided encouragement to us all. I'm with you on the yo-yo thing...I think you should be proud of yourself that you have been able to maintain! I know I've learned a lot from you, and you have made me stop and think before I've gone off and eaten something or not gotten off the couch to exercise. I'm here for you - maybe together we can give each other the encouragement and strength to lose some of those pounds for good !

Rox, in my eyes, you did succeed. You are probably aware now more than ever before of your goals and what works for you and what doesn't.
I think trying to maintain till the end of the year is a great idea and a goal that will lead you to further success! The best part of it is that you are not giving up. The holidays can be an opportunity for many people to throw in the towel and give in to temptation.

You can do this! I am on your side and rooting for you! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Let's get through these holidays and set some new goals for the upcoming year as a team!

Nothing wrong with maintaining. In fact, it will quite an accomplishment thru the holidays. Good luck, my friend.
