I love a good funeral
Saturday, August 30, 2008
I just got back from the memorial service of a 94 year old servant of Christ who impacted many people. Lots of pastors and missionaries wrote or spoke saying that they were in the ministry because of his encouragement or stayed in ministry because of his encouragment. He was a wonderful old school Bible teacher.
My husband said that he followed Christ's example, living a life full of grace and truth. There's a tension that comes from grace and truth being together. The truth of God's Word is unbending, never changing. People need to know the truth, to follow the truth. But people are also broken. They need grace and compassion. That's the theme of my sparkpage and I feel more challenged than ever to try to follow Christ by teaching the truth and showing the grace.
When I get to go home, I hope I have the kind of funeral that people love, too.
