Time to regroup and FOCUS

Wednesday, August 13, 2008

Over the next few days I've got to regroup and focus on what I need to do or what I don't need to do as far as eating properly. I have failed many a night with snacking and it puts me way over my calorie count for the day. I just feel the need to eat, not because I've starved myself all day, I just feel the need to eat. I've got to figure it out, I've not lost any weight and haven't gained any either, but if it wouldn't have been for snacking I know I would have lost something.

Hi Meylose- Saw your invitation & thought I'd stop by. I too get cravings, or used to . Four weeks ago, I would have downed about 2 liters of soda a day & maybe have 1 or 2 desserts too. Yes, daily. So it wasn't evening noshing, just throughout the day, constant cravings. I quit soda & sweets COLD TURKEY. For about 3 days I thought I was going to die. Then it's like I broke thru the other side. No more cravings. Just desire for healthy foods, whole grains, etc., when I'm actually hungry. If I do get the idea that I can have "just one" cookie because I made them for the kids and they look so good, I carefully watch my body's reaction. Not good. Just one cookie leads me to MAJOR, almost uncontrolable cravings. But I can have a spoon of sugar on my oatmeal without cravings- so I think it's the volume of sugar in the processed foods that sets off cravings in me. Oh, and caffeine, even without sugar (like just the amount in two cups of tea) will also set off huge cravings. Hope this helps.

Evening snacking is one of my pitfalls as well. I'm not sure if it is boredom or habit or what that makes me much out in the evening. Figuring out why is so important to stopping it.

My first step is going to be to push my dinner a little later. I'm going to do this by actually inserting another meal around 4. It'll be a cup of soup or a salad or something along those lines to tide me over to a later dinner.

Then I'll see if that changes anything and go from there.

Good luck on anti-evening snack efforts! I'll hope you'll post what you try and what works and doesn't work. Maybe you'll figure out something that'll help both of us.
