Virtual 5K, way too cool

Apparently I am someone who needs a lot of external motivation. This morning I was telling my daughters that I was going to be in a race today at the gym and really meant it. My SP class is an absolutely awesome team and a member Chris suggested a virtual 5K. Everyone had to set a "best ever" type goal and then run the 5K today and post your results along with your age and weight so she could factor those in for comparative rankings.
I did the 3.1 in 35.58 (ok, so that's really 36 but its fun to see that 35 ). I had set the goal of 39 minutes to beat my 40 min time the first 5K. Now granted a treadmill in the air conditioning with no incline is easier than the beach in the heat, but given a honking blister on my heel and my bloat from crappy eating the last few weeks, I am quite pleased with myself. I am most happy about jogging the whole time, keeping my pace between 5.0 and 6.0 mph after I warmed up a bit. The last half mile though was totally killer, I didn't think it would ever end.
I am going to do this weekly and try to develop the internal motivation by competing with my self for best times but you know I will be telling you all about it because I gotta get that external motivation too !!!
Happy happy Friday, enjoy the weekend. I have a second weekend in a row, at home with no soccer,
