Being A Parent

The accident of a dear spark team member's daughter has sparked me to print this reminder that I keep on my desk here at home. I hope no one takes offense to it. I just have seen so many moving comments, and stories, that in sharing this, it is my part in dealing with the tragedy that is always lurking.
JUST FOR THIS EVENING, I WILL LET YOU SPLASH IN THE TUB AND NOT GET ANGRY.
JUST FOR THIS EVENING , I WILL LET YOU STAY UP LATE WHILE WE SIT ON THE PORCH AND COUNT ALL THE STARS.
JUST FOR THIS EVENING , I WILL SNUGGLE BESIDE YOU FOR HOURS, AND MISS MY FAVORITE TV SHOWS
I WILL THINK ABOUT THE MOTHERS WHO ARE SEARCHING FOR THEIR MISSING CHILDREN. THE MOTHERS WHO ARE VISITING THEIR CHILDREN'S GRAVES INSTEAD OF THEIR BEDROOMS. THE MOTHERS WHO ARE IN THE HOSPITAL ROOMS WHATCHING THEIR CHILDREN SUFFER NEEDLESSLY AND SCREAMING INSIDE THEY CAN'T HANDLE IT ANY MORE. AND WHEN I KISS YOU GOODNIGHT I WILL HOLD YOU A LITTLE TIGHTER AND A LITTLE LONGER.
REMEMBER WHAT GIFTS OUR CHILDREN ARE TO US. GOD GAVE US THE JOB TO TAKE CARE OF THEM, THEY ARE A GIFT FROM HIM!
