Ground Hog's Day

Here I am, over my cruises and the flu...stuck! My weight has not moved for 2 weeks (almost 3) and it's because I'm in that two month rut. Everyday, I renew my committment to my weight loss-gain health lifestyle and yet I waiver. I'm inconsistent. For example, I did not realize that it's been just over a month since I last blogged. I see myself taking shortcuts (that don't work) and finding reasons to deviate (ever so slightly) from my goals -just for today-

I know that hasn't worked for me in the past and it's not going to work now. I've lost 10 lbs so far and I have another 25 lbs to go. I'm feeling better, looking better and my clothes are looser. Then why am I feeling disenchanted and bored?

Help me to motivate myself!

    Hey, most people that go on cruises gain weight and you lost weight (at least on your first cruise; I looked through the blogs and didn't see any mention of how you did on your second one.); that's a big accomplishment in my book!

    As for getting stuck on that inevitable plateau, so sorry! Hang in there! This too shall pass. Don't beat yourself up on your wavering; it take a long time to change old habits. Besides, in some of the articles I read, we need to allow for wavering (slip ups, cheats, indulges, or what ever you want to call them); matter of fact, we should actually plan them sometimes.

    To break out of that plateau, make sure you continue to log on your nutrition and exercise trackers, drink eight cups of water daily, and get 8 hours of sleep. Try changing the number of calories, fat, carbs, and protein, but stay within the recommended goals; also change the food you eat. This change is also recommended on our exercises. Apparently, our body gets used to routine, so change it frequently. If you're walking or running, change from fast to slow to medium pace throughout your exercising. Change the order of your routine. Also, change the exercises periodically.

    And, don't get discouraged! Remember, changing our habits take time. So, if you find yourself off plan, get back on track and press on.

    You've said it, you're feeling better, looking better and your clothes are looser. Concentrate on that and let the disenchanted and boredom feeling go away!
