Updated October 7, 2013!

I had spinal fusion surgery in March, 2011. I did well with my recovery and got down to my lowest in years...156lbs. However, whatever I want to blame...depression, work, myself, life...I gained nearly 30+ pounds by the end of that year!!

Last summer my "baby", Bubba (16 year old cat) died. He had not been sick at all and it was a great shock. Soon, my other boy cat, Tigger began getting sick, too and was diagnosed with a thyroid issue. He did not respond to treatment and he died last November.

Since then I have gained about 10 more pounds. I would say that I entered a time of depression. Being a single gal, my cats are like family to me...losing two of them within months was a sad time. I still have two girls (Ellie-15 and Pepper-8) and I got two new kittens (Ditto and Jesse) and they are sister, 5 months old.

Yesterday I cleaned out the fridge and freezer (pantry is going to be done this weekend) of all the foods I should not be eating. I will replace them with fruits and veggies and lean meats. I will start slow with getting active--short walks and some exercise DVD's. I hope to have some results by the time I visit my family in November.

Here is where the "rubber meets the road"...success is mine--if I am willing to work for it and do what needs to be done.

I am getting back to the basics...

Hi! Wow! how time flies when we're having fun!

I've been really busy and enjoying the festivities of the Easter season (which is my favorite holiday by the way) and now I'm about to get ready for some over night company that will be here in the early afternoon tomorrow then we will be getting ready to go to the coast for some fun and relaxation. When the sun comes out...I go out! It's great!

How about you? Have you been busy or are you getting ready for BBQ season/summer which will be upon us very soon now!

I read that persimmons have high levels of fiber, potassium, magnesium, calcium and antioxidants which are all super weapons against atherosclerosis! Who knew?

Have a great week and a great Mother's Day on the 8th!

Hope the appetite returns. I have an acquaintance who really got messed up over her medications during back pain. She had to use some type of pain patch which affected her appetite. After 2 hospital stays for hydration, she's finally doing better since they took off the pain patch. She lost 30 pounds along with her appetite. I haven't had much time to find out the specifics, but I have questioned her treatment.

Praying for your quick recovery and healing of your back pain. emoticon
