I had spinal fusion surgery in March, 2011. I did well with my recovery and got down to my lowest in years...156lbs. However, whatever I want to blame...depression, work, myself, life...I gained nearly 30+ pounds by the end of that year!!

Last summer my "baby", Bubba (16 year old cat) died. He had not been sick at all and it was a great shock. Soon, my other boy cat, Tigger began getting sick, too and was diagnosed with a thyroid issue. He did not respond to treatment and he died last November.

Since then I have gained about 10 more pounds. I would say that I entered a time of depression. Being a single gal, my cats are like family to me...losing two of them within months was a sad time. I still have two girls (Ellie-15 and Pepper-8) and I got two new kittens (Ditto and Jesse) and they are sister, 5 months old.

Yesterday I cleaned out the fridge and freezer (pantry is going to be done this weekend) of all the foods I should not be eating. I will replace them with fruits and veggies and lean meats. I will start slow with getting active--short walks and some exercise DVD's. I hope to have some results by the time I visit my family in November.

Here is where the "rubber meets the road"...success is mine--if I am willing to work for it and do what needs to be done.

I am getting back to the basics...

Personal Information:
Originally from Indiana--I moved to Houston in July, 1992.
-I work for a non-profit Christian agency--since 1992.
-I am searching for a church home.
-I am learning American Sign Language.

I am single (never married), and own four cats. I pray for the day I get married and have children of my own!

-I am losing this weight to feel healthy and be able to do missions work and raise my children without feeling tired, sick, or overwhelmed.

I enjoy magazines and other Christian reading material.

I love crafting.

I belong to Curves.

    Pickleball is sort of like tennis for old people! haha. You use a whiffle ball and what looks more like a ping pong paddle; a lower net and smaller court. The rules are sort of like tennis and sort of like volleyball. It's great exercise and fun meeting new people.

    I loved seeing your weight loss on friend feed again. Then I read your new page. While I didn't have the tough year you have had, I can identify with your feelings that caused you to regain the weight. You have had a really tough experience and I'm so sorry you're in pain.

    Your goal is certainly attainable and I will love cheering you on! I've gained about 4 pounds back since fall, and I am experiencing some depression and throwing myself too many pity parties. Reading and remembering what you have been through this year gives me motivation to get myself in gear. We have the tools, but I'm sorry you have to also experience pain. I will pray for your pain to lessen as you work on losing the weight with all of the spark friends to support you. emoticon emoticon
