UDATE 12/19/19
I have continued to lose weight and tone my body with Pilates, yoga and water classes. I am 2 lbs from a total loss of 50# this year alone! I am thrilled and encouraged. Fasting, Time Restricted Eating, etc. is definitely the way to live for me. DH does One Meal A Day and is happy with his results.
UPDATE 3/21/19
I am SO close to Onederland! The same 5# up and down. It is Lent now, and I should be sacrificing and make my goal as a result, but...traveling more, and when I am out of my routine at home, my diet suffers! As does my exercising. Lucky us, the major employer in our town has built an Aquatic and Activity Center which is a boon to helping us move our bodies! I have discovered Pilates is something I can do, moderately, and the Silver Sneakers Program is a keeper for life I have been doing Intermittent Fasting and Extended Fasts since December 2018, and feel that is helping in several areas. Kind of keeps your body guessing. The great thing, is my hubs has joined me and we keep each other on task. Life is good; sometimes exciting, sometimes boring, but always worth it!
2017:
Working on finding what is right for my changing body. Back, hip and knee problems have derailed my activity so that I can't make progress! Working with a PT person and other health professionals to "be my best self." Hoping my new team "Circle of Surrender" will be key, along with my old friends on "ASK."

Went Low Carb in July 2016. Over the past 5 months, my hubby and I have lost 20+ lbs each and have not felt deprived. This is the longest I have stuck with any program in many, many years. I plan to continue and perhaps add some fruits and other variety in moderation. My goal is 40 or less grams of carbs per day, but sometimes I find myself at 20 or less. I joined another Spark Team with a Paleo focus, so am looking for inspiration and validation. 2017 is going to be a Onederland for me!

2/9/15 -- Over the past 5 years, (see below) I have not made much progress. However, I am still learning a lot from my SparkFriends and about myself. I not gained (or if I did, it was temporary) and I have tried new eating and drinking habits. My age and metabolism are working against me. (Only the dates have changed in the past 2 years. In other words, the only thing I have lost is time.)

12/30/10 -- 230# I recently had an embarrassing episode on the airplane when we took our annual vacation. The seatbelt almost didn't fit!!!!! OMG! Talk about a wake-up call! In pictures, I look like Buddha. This week has been a time to make a plan to reach those goals I set almost THREE years ago!

Hi, here I am, still trying to change! Tried everything out there, including gastroplasty over 20 yrs. ago, fen-phen, etc. and still do not have a handle on eating and exercising. Age 61, retired, no kids at home, travel around quite a bit. Had fibromyalgia years ago, but still think there is some residual symptoms. Neuropathy sometimes a problem; have high BP, borderline high cholestrol & diabetes. Slowly getting back to a walking program after knee probs.

My Goals:
To get to a non-obese BMI. I have made some progress and that is motivating in itself. 12/19/19: two pounds more and I will be in the "Overweight" category, no longer obese!!!!!

To be a healthy weight so I can be more active - and vice versa! Specifically:
weight under 200# by the end of 2015. Well,THAT didn't happen, with a vacation and the holidays. SO now, my goal is 25# in the next 3 months. Exercise 6x a week for at least 45 min.
Lower Fasting Blood Sugar to 100 or less.
Lower Blood Pressure.
Lower Cholesterol.
Addendum: Lab tests Sept. '10 & '11 were all LOWER! (exc. triglycerides.) Dr. was pleased, as was I, to see that my efforts are showing! Yay for oatmeal!
'15 labs were "OK"


My Program:
Eating more veggies and fruits, less JUNK, less alcohol. I will pay attention to portions. I pledge to do 30-45 min. of exercise every day! (w/ one day of rest.)



Personal Information:
Raelene here, living in NW WI, but my heart is in Jamaica! Or anywhere tropical. We have 3 children, 7 grandchildren, no pets. Our goal as a couple is to be there for each other when we are old and gray. Getting there fast!


Other Information:
Totally into music, movies and reading.

    LOL....strong like bull! Worth two goats and a sheep!

    Spent a lot of the day doing outside work and that keeps my mind off all of the things I have been trying not to eat or drink. End of day glass of wine looking over all we've done...very satisfying and I got my steps and probably some of my strength work in too!

    Thanks for your comment on my blog a few days ago. I haven't been sparking! I appreciate the advice to stop and breathe... I need to do that. I have now finally gotten several quotes from moving companies. I will compare them today, as well as researching the reviews of the companies. Once I get that done and booked, I can book our flights. Then I can focus on getting rid of more crap, lol.

    Thanks about the knees, too. I agree... in three months, we will be enjoying our new surroundings! All this stress will be behind us!

    In my case "maturity" isn't the biggest part of it...more that I have come to understand it's more about quality than quantity and one can't find that by trying to cover up other feelings. Well, I guess that is maturity...LOL but in my case really it's putting childish slights behind me. Food is not really love after all.
