Reading back on my words from before, that is where I want to be again AND it's where I will be again. The lesson I have learned? If you want to get the same results, you have to do the same things. If you want to keep those results, you can never let up. Keep on keepin' on.

My writing and accomplishments from before and soon to be my reality again:

I began a new life on January 1, 2008. Most people, including me, make New Year's Resolutions with all the best of intentions but never follow through. This time, I was "sick and tired of being sick and tired". After spending my entire life battling obesity, I just said enough is enough.

This required sacrifices and pain in some ways. I had to change--change my thinking, my habits, the way I celebrated, the way I dealt with boredom, the way I dealt with my feelings. In other words, I had to change everything. I had to learn how to conquor my fear of the gym and learn how to exercise. I had to develop a new, different relationship with food--even learning new ways to cook and eat.

Has it been worth it? Absolutely! At the beginning of the year I set goals which had nothing to do with a number on the scale. I wanted to ride roller-coasters. I wanted to hug my children with their arms all the way around me. I wanted to be pain-free and healthier. All that has been accomplished and then some! I have received many gifts, some unexpected, some I worked for and looked forward to. I have had many surprises and that makes me look forward to the future. I am in uncharted territory--at a size I have not seen in 23 years. I look forward to learning how to live without the burden of extra weight.

What's next? I want to run, not walk, but RUN a 2K in 2009. Other than that--the future is an open book, a clean slate, one I can't wait to fill with lots of gifts and blessings!

There have been a lot of changes in the past year. However, I know from personal experience that it is easy to accept things as "normal" the longer they are around and part of my life. So, I have decided to start a list of the gifts that I have received so that I don't forget how much my life has truly changed! This will help motivate me to do what I have to do to keep these gifts, too.

1. I can drive my car with my seat pulled all the way up.
2. I can wear my seat belt when I drive or when I ride in ANY car now.
3. I am pain-free in my feet.
4. I am pain-free in my back.
5. I have the stamina to walk or stand without numbness in my legs.
6. I take pride in my appearance now.
7. I can buy underwear at Victoria's Secret if I want to!
8. My children can hug me with their arms all the way around me now.
9. I can ride any damn roller coaster I want to now!
10. I don't have a "belly-shelf" anymore when I sit down.
11. My belly is flat when I lay down.
12. I have had to buy all new clothes.
13. I get attention like I haven't in years...
14. I can run up the stairs at work without getting dizzy or short of breath.
15. I can park anywhere I want to in a parking lot and walk in from the back if I choose to.

My Goals:
I'm getting married in October 2015 so my immediate goal is to look good in my dress, to be comfortable and able to enjoy my honeymoon in Jamaica without back pain and knee pain.

After that? The sky is the limit. I want to do a 5k again. I want to shop for regular clothes in regular stores and not in specialty stores or limited to special sections.

My Program:
Low-carb works best for me. Trust me: carbs are my downfall!

I also joined 24 Hour Fitness and invested in a personal trainer. I need to be held accountable.

"The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne has helped me tremendously and works for me on this journey.

Personal Information:
I live in Lenexa KS with the most wonderful man in the world who is soon to be the most wonderful husband in the world. I have two grown children and now have two wonderful step-children. I have a Boxador (Boxer/Lab mix) and two cats who are like my children too LOL! I love the outdoors, blues music and classic cars.

Other Information:
I want these things again....I let go of my good habits and lost these things but it's only temporary. I know how I did it and know I can do it again:

I can see my feet! Woo-hoo!

I'm wearing my daughter's clothes and they're TOO BIG!

My son saw me from behind in a crowd and didn't recognize me! (That shocked him as much as it amused me!)

I had to move my car seat up and adjust my rear-view mirror--a direct result of less "junk in my trunk"!

I have to go shopping for clothes, as much as I hate it, because everything I own is getting so big!

My phone is ringing off the hook. Thanks, guys! This reminds me of high school...
