Hello, All!

I'm here because I'm bigger than I'd like. I've done just about everything, and nothing has worked so far, so I'm using this as a tool. I may not track everyday, but the goal is to do so, and get some of the weight off.

I'm a 49-year old man, with an amazing wife and 3 young kids (11, 9 and 7) whom I'd really like to see graduate from college. I'd also like to spare myself diabetes, heart disease, and the myriad of other things that go with obesity. I'd also like to spare myself weight reduction surgery, but it may be in my future if I don't get a handle on the weight. And, of course, I'd like to be able to keep up with my 11-year old, who is obsessed with sports, both watching and playing.

That's it for now. I'll try to get a couple of "before" pics uploaded later today.

I should also mention that I'm a Christian, attending a non-denominational Church, and I try to take that seriously.

Fitness Minutes: 271

My Goals:
I'd like to drop about 130 lbs or so, and be more physically fit.

My Program:
Mainly just watching what I eat. May not log every day, but I'll try to eat less, and exercise more, and blog at least a couple of times a week. This will be a work in progress, as I have no idea how to lose weight long-term (I've obviously never lost and kept it off), so I'll be re-evaluating constantly.

    Glad to see you're taking charge of your health. Taking that first step is always the hardest part of the road to a healthier and happier life. :)

    Just remember that it's one day at a time. Forgive yourself if you slip up, but remember to always get back up and keep going. Weight loss is more a state of mind than a state of what you eat. Once you fix the brain, the body falls into line pretty easily.

    Hoping for good things for you in this journey.
