Introduction Text I haven't been around here for a few weeks. The reason is because I was diagnosed with cancer on November 29. After many, many tests it has been determined that I have lung cancer in my right lung, my liver and it has spread to some lymph nodes. I am currently waiting for more test results in order for my doctor to create a strategic treatment plan. I am over the shock, just barely, but still don't understand why this has happened to me. I'm 44 years old and a non-smoker. I really had no warning signs other than a lagging cough that started in September. It all feels like a bad dream that I can't wake up from. This hurdle has been put in my life path and I have no choice but to fight with everything I've got to live. I am building myself up with healthy foods, supplements and exercise to prepare for the fight. I appreciate your thoughts and prayers. UPDATE 1/21/12 I was lucky enough to have the genetic marker to be a candidate for a lung cancer treatment by pill. I have been on this treatment off and on over the last 3 weeks. The pill has caused some nasty reactions, but is now leveling off once I was cut back to a lower dosage. I'm feeling better, finally I have more energy and less coughing. I will get a scan in a few weeks to see what's happening to the tumors. Thank you for keeping me in your prayers!! UPDATE 2/13/12 Today I got results from a PET scan that showed that the tumor in my liver is not cancer active anymore, yay! The tumor in my lung has moved and reduced. All of the lymph nodes effected except for one are now showing no active cancer. That one lymph node is on the root of my right lung and it has increased in size. It's been giving me a fit, because it's trying to cut off my air supply, making me cough and it's painful. Since the Tarceva oral treatment is taking care of all of the other tumors, my doctor is going to treat this one node with radiation. I go tomorrow for my first appointment to get that started. My doctor is confident that they can easily get this one stubborn lymph node under control. I am so relieved. Thank you for your prayers, keep them coming! UPDATE 4/19/12 I am done with 30 radiation treatments, yay!! Radiation caused a lot of discomfort in my throat so eating was quite a challenge. Radiation also causes fatigue which usually doesn't hit until all the treatments are done. The last two weeks have been rough but I'm getting stronger. After May 29 i will be having my next scan to see where things stand. Thanks for your prayers!! I am so thankful. UPDATE 8/23/12 I found out in May that the cancer had gotten into my bones and was showing up in my liver again. My hip area was so sore that I had to use a walker for a while and was out of work for almost 2 months. My doctor started me on chemotherapy. I've now had 4 treatments and the last scan showed dramatic improvements. I am now back to work and walking without the aid of a walker or cane. Without a higher power I can honestly say I don't know how I would have gotten through the last few months. Thank you for your prayers and keep them coming!

I LOVE the beach, dogs, old cars, bingo, arts & crafts and gardening. My dream is to retire to a beach community where I can put my toes in the sand everyday!
