Hello! My name is Theresa, I'm 60 years YOUNG and from Ohio.
I'm divorced; no children, but I have two cats who think they are "real people"---and that's OK with me.
I have had some weight issues off and on through the years but thankfully, nothing too serious; the bad thing is, the older I get, the harder it is to take it off.
In October of 2007 I was diagnosed with lung cancer (a result of my poor choice to smoke---which I no longer do). I finished up my chemo and radiation treatments in April 2008 and I am so thankful that is behind me. I won't know until the end of June or the beginning of July if the treatments were successful, but I am hopeful.
I've started paying more attention to what I am eating; I eat alot more fruits and vegetables these days---but sweets are my weakness---especially chocolate. Because of my health, I've been less active but a couple of weeks ago, I started a walking program; I try to walk a mile, twice a day---some days I can even go beyond that.
I have been so encouraged since I found my way to SparkPeople---thanks to all of you who have encouraged me.
Now, I must get busy---I have 10 pounds to shed!

All test reports as of July 11, 2008 have come back favorably. The tumor has significant shrinkage (it will never go away completely), all blood work looks good, and my voice has returned to normal. I've increased my walking to 3 miles a day and continue to do the strength training. I hope to return to work mid August.
GOD HAS BEEN SO GOOD TO ME IN RESTORING MY HEALTH.

My Goals:
I would like to lose 10 pounds by June 25----why that date??????????---because I have to go back to the doctor that day and the always weigh me----UGH!!!

To stay positive even when I stray from my program---NEVER give up!


My Program:
I'm paying closer attention to what I eat--I'm eating healthier.
I've also started a walking program and recently started strength training exercises.
