I have been on a diet since I was 12. I finally found something that let me lose 45 lbs and I have been able to maintain for the over a year! This is amazing for me. Then I let myself go back to the old way of eating, even if compliant with the new way of eating. Far too much processed starch and large meals. I have gained back 20 lbs since July so back on the wagon I climb.

Pieces of the puzzle are finally fitting together.

I have many foods I have a bad reaction to so I must eliminate them from my diet maybe forever. I figured the next paragraph out by myself but I recently was introduced to Dr. Steven Gundry, MD who wrote the book The Plant Paradox about lectins in our foods and the damaging effects they have on my body. All of the food I gave up were Lectin foods which I discovered on my own. In reading the book I have found a few more so eliminating those as well. Very organic veggie high and remember you eat what your food ate. Any veggie with internal seeds is on the no no list. I highly recommend you check out his book and website, just google him. Good by pain, stiffness, and all of my health problems forever. By the way the food is delicious too. I lived pain free for nearly 2 years. I wasn't losing any more but I felt good. I started taking his Lectin Shield so I could go on vacation on a cruise and I let sugar back in my life and that seems to be my total key.

This is what I found by trial and error. No gluten, only grass fed cow products, night shade veggies (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers and egg plant and goji berries). No processed sugar and white rice I keep to a minimum. No artificial sweeteners but I can use Stevia and Monkfruit and Yacon syrup.

It started to sneak up again at the end of summer and I realized that I had adopted some substitutes and stopped logging. For me logging and being accountable is key. I also was eating many foods containing lectins which was making my problems worse not better, not now. My husband is supporting me entirely and his health will get better in the process..

I am now no longer Obese, simply Overweight so next goal is to get to where I am Normal.
Career Goals: Grow as a teacher, keep my Highly Effective Status, earn an award, get my HS math license.
Create Lesson plans to use in my classes. Create professional Development activity for my region. In Mary Kay and Pampered Chef find how they fit in my life.

My Program:
Log my food -must follow what I am limiting at this time and It is important that I log my food and stay in parameters - I found this to be total key. I am using Spark people for logging and now I am sold on the Plant Paradox food list. Doing Beach Body workouts daily, or my Total Gym and bike, Yoga and Y classes as a second sometimes- they compliment each other well.

Personal Information:
I am the wife of a wonderful man named Prince - we have been married for a joyful 25+ years with 40+ more to come. I have 3 sons - Nate age 28 and a college graduate and living on his own, he is a full time Equity Stage Manager in the top 3 theaters in the Twin Cities. Cameron age 24,moved back home to go back to school and had a Dean's List semester. . Ryan age 20 and a sophomore at college. He earned the rank of Eagle for Boy Scouts. By Day and some evenings during the school year, I am a teacher of adult students. I prepare them for their High School Equivalency Test and their College Entrance exams. My second career is I am a Senior Consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics and a Consultant with Pampered Chef because I really believe in their products and my hobby is theater when I have time.

Other Information:
As a teacher I read all of the time and really like self help books and teacher philosophy books but for brain candy - I enjoy erotic literature, and historical romances and Fantasy fiction like.
I enjoy Contemporary Christian Music, Musical Sound Tracks and older soft rock but mostly I like silence.

Favorite TV shows are: Big Bang Theory, Criminal Minds to Net Flicks I have come to enjoy - Lost, Brothers and Sisters, Dr. Who, 24 Hours, Orange is the New Black, and so may others.. We recently have found The Crown on Netflix. In the summer I tend to catch up on seasons of shows I never had time to watch when they were actually on. Last year it is House of Cards and Black Mirror.

I don't go to the movies very often but enjoy when I go.

    The best way not to put back on the weight is to think of it as a life style change--not a diet. You are creating the new you! Never give up, and never go back to the old ways that let you gain the weight in the first place. emoticon
