It has been over nine years that I stopped smoking, and decided to work on my excess weight.

I have been very successful with the no smoking part, but not so much with the losing weight... I keep losing, then gaining back. And the cycle starts again.

It is time now to re-evaluate what I am doing wrong. I think I stay on a diet that is too restrictive, and when I allow myself a little "break", this turns into several months of over eating.

Raising a handicapped son all by my myself is stressful, but I tend to use this as an excuse to over eat.

I have severe arthritis and it is urgent for me to lose weight.

So, let's pick up the momentum and see what we can do to get back on track, shall we?

My Program:
- Eat balanced meals, not too restrictive calorie-wise.
- Watch my afternoon snacks
- Increase my vegetable and fruit consumption.
- Exercise every day, even if this is only 10 minutes a day. I need to keep moving because of arthritis that is getting worse when I am inactive. My new Fitbit will help with this.

Personal Information:
I am originally from France, but now live in Virginia. We go every year on vacation on Lake Superior (in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan) and we love it there!

Other Information:
I recently joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and it has brought wonderful changes in my life.
I love to read (theology and history books) and I listen to classical music (J.S. Bach is my favorite composer).

Veronique, I love your idea about leaving notes to remind you if you did something...and then throw it away once done. Brilliant!

You had written that I should let you guys know about how my reunion went. Nobody else asked, so I thought I'd just write back to you.

First, after the 4 hour flight, that evening there was a "meet and greet" in the bar inside the
hotel. There was a big table with about 8 people around it. I knew them all, but only recognized three of them. I had an iced tea and enjoyed their company, but realized, I would be reading a bunch of name tags on the next night..

Day 2: Went to the reunion. When I was in high school I was in the honors program. The kids in that program were real nice kids. Well, a lot of those people were at the event, so it was real pleasant being there. Not cliquish for the most part.

The food consisted of prime rib and three high carb pastas, also high in fat. I hadn't been eating meat, so I had two meatless pastas and some tabouli.

I kind of thought ahead of time that I wouldn't be staying long, because after dinner was to be drinking and dancing. I do neither any more. However, I stayed for three hours, just visiting and drinking club sodas and non alcoholic beer.

I learned about some people who were highly successful, and some who were happy to be retired teachers with their pensions.

It was pretty fun getting caught up. The next day there was a breakfast at the restaurant which I skipped due to a previous commitment to meet my nephew and his wife.

On the trip I did a lot of visiting with relatives. I ended up coming down with a toe infection. Went home a day early and got treatment for it. Dr. thinks it will be along term treatment, trying to keep the bone from being infected and thus putting my entire toe in jeopardy.

Nice sharing about my trip. Thanks you for asking. Glad to be home. Glenn
