Having been successful using Spark People, I want to encourage others.

This is what works for me:
1. Planning all the food I'll eat for the day (including snacks and healthful items such as fruit, veggies, and nuts), adding up the calories and subtracting where necessary to stay within my calorie limits.
2. Carrying a pre-measured bottle or glass of water with me all day and refilling.
3. I'm very competitive so I try to score the maximum Spark points for cardio (2 hours) each day. Sometimes THAT motivates me more than knowing exercise is good for me!
4. Logging into Spark People DAILY and reading the Nutrition, Health, and Motivation articles to remind me what is TRULY important - my health. I also like to read other people's blogs for encouragement.
5. Staying away from chips and cookies and cakes as much as possible.
6. Brushing my teeth RIGHT after dinner and not eating for the rest of the day.
7. When my clothes fit comfortably I know I'm on track. When they start getting snug I know I am eating too much.

Exercise 30 minutes a day following Karen Voight Sleek Physique and Billy Blanks Tae bo

Drink water from water bottles as it is premeasured and easier to keep track of.

    Thanks for getting back to me! I find I do best keeping with a routine if I work out in the mornings. However, I like to get to school early so that would mean I'd need to wake up around 4:30-4:45. I don't know if I can do it! I will have to try!

    Good to know you are human and that it really is necessary to watch calories. I think we all tend to forget how much we eat if we don't keep track.

    Hi there, I was looking at your page and noticed your weight loss marker. I love it! and was wondering if I could steal how you've done your weight? I lost the majority of my weight before SP and don't want that part on my scale! LOL

    You are where I so desparately want to be....at goal weight. I have started and restarted so many times that I sometimes just want to throw up my hands and say "forget it!!" I have a close friend who is also my sparkbuddy and he refuses to "allow" me to give up.

    How did you do it? Staying motivated that is. I start out with good intentions, then life, kids, work, etc step in and I get off track. Aaargh!
