Hi Teddybear. I have added you as a friend. You asked why I became a Catholic. Actually when our first baby was on the way, I wanted us to go to church as a family and so I took instructions (which were a lot simpler in those days) and turned Catholic. However, I didn't really embrace fully the Catholic faith until a few years ago when I started going to Bible Study (I never had time when my kids were younger). I have learned so much about the Church that I never knew before. The study that really helped me embrace the Church was when we studies the early Church Fathers - the first few centuries of the Church. We learned about the men who became the first successors of Peter as Pope and how they followed Christ. Some of the teachers of these first few popes were actually disciples of Christ who passed the teachings of Christ down to them. I learned what the Church's Tradition was - that is the teaching of Christ that has not been included in the scriptures. John (I think it was the book of John) says that if everything that Christ taught was written down, there would not be enough books to contain it all - so those teachings have been passed down orally. They are the ones that do not disagree with the Bible, but coincide with it. I always questioned that, but in my studies I learned the truth behind it. All in all, I am convinced that the Catholic Church is the church that Christ instituted and all other christian churches are offshoots of that. Studying the mass, we learned that basically the things we celebrate in mass today were celebrated 2000 years ago. So, in a nutshell, that is why I am truly converted to the Catholic Church and am so happy to be here. In Jesus Name, Amen
