My SP progress is listed below, but because this page ought to begin by reflecting who I really am, first of all, I must tell you that I am a Christian. I am eternally thankful for the gift of salvation which has been given to me (provided through the death of Christ on the cross). I am thankful that God has provided this way of salvation, because I know that I do not deserve it!

Second, I am a Christian wife. I also LOVE children as evidenced by the fact that I taught them for 18 years. I never had any children of my own because I married too late in life. On 8/25/14 I started teaching again in a small Christian School in Edgerton, MN. I'm finding I'm too busy to do Spark People right now. Hopefully I'll be active during the summer months.

6/12/2015 Last summer I accepted a teaching position in Edgerton, MN. It has been an extremely busy schoolyear as I taught 9 students in grades K-3 (with no one in grade 2). This summer I'll be busy getting ready for 8 students in grades K-2 (no 3rd graders). We are so thankful for the extra income and I found out how much I missed being with the kids. God has been gracious, granting me the health and strength I need to get through this year.

Just for the record, I started using this site on Wed., Jan 21, 2009. It isn't easy to lose weight, but I lost 90 lbs using this site.

01/21/09-280 lbs (start)
04/28/10-184.8 - Total = -95.2
09/14/14-222 lbs. - Total = -58 lbs.
06/12/15-223 lbs. - Total = -57 lbs.

I will be happy if I can get back to and maintain my weight at 200 lbs.

Fitness Minutes: 100,821

My Goals:
Lose 80 pounds.

My Program:
I am eating smaller portions, CHEWING most bites 20 times, putting utensils down frequently (anything to eat slower)!
I have increased my water intake, usually drinking 8 glasses a day. I love and eat lots of vegetables (usually steamed), and I am working on eating more fruits!
Up until the end of April, 2010, I used SP's Nutrition Tracker "religiously"!It helps me learn what PORTION size is all about (vs PORTION DISTORTION). :-)
I usually walk at 6 days a week for about an hour. I do the strengthening exercises which I have chosen (because they are ones which I can do at home without equipment). I do these exercises the recommended 3 times a week.

Personal Information:
I'm from South Holland, IL. I've was born in Lansing IL, lived in several states in the following order: MI, IL, TX, IL, IA, MI, CO and am back in IL.

Other Information:
Demand more of yourself when it comes to nutrition. Our parents, teachers, bosses and coaches demand more and hold us accountable. Do the same for yourself. Be tolerant and understanding of your imperfections, but don�t justify and forgive yourself every chance you get.

    Hey Anita- I absolutely credit SP with my success! I started on the site in April 07 and lost 25 pounds by that same Aug/Sept. Since then I have maintained that 25 pound loss. Maintaining can be just as challenging as losing. I may kick it up again at some point to take off another 10 - as soon as the weather warms up enough for me to be more active outdoors! As for the chocolate vitamin chews - they should be available in any grocery/discount store where vitamins are sold. Just ask the pharmacist if you cannot find them. Good luck!

    Thanks for commenting on my blog!! You are doing great to lose 7 pounds the first week... unfortunately for me, I started my diet before starting Spark people.. so it does not show up on my Spark scale! Keep up the good work!!

    hahaha you said one time you had a hard time drinking all your water... well I figured out how to drink more water. Eat something really spicy and then you will NEED to drink water!
