And so the journey begins.... ^^
Greetings! My name is Dee, and like many other people on this site, I have struggled with my weight since I was a child. Food was the one thing that I thought I was in control of. I grew up in a very chaotic and violent home, and food not only was a source of comfort, but also one of punishment. So food and I have had a very unstable relationship to say the least. But in order to move forward, I have got to learn to take a positive stance - not only physically, but also emotionally. Unless I am willing to deal with my past, I will get nowhere on this journey!
It is so easy to fall into a victim category; to blame others for what you have become. There are ALWAYS choices to be made. Some can be as simple as choosing between the apple or some Cheetos, or let's face it - the entire bag of Cheetos! Other choices are harder to face, but nonetheless necessary in order to move forward. Yeah, wallowing can feel great, but what have you really accomplished? It takes a greater person to step up, admit that they're responsible for their life, for their actions, and ignite that tiny spark that will fuel them on their journey! Sure, we'll slip up along the way, but reach out to one another! Whether we have 10lbs or 150+lbs to lose, we're all on an amazing journey of self discovery and wondrous lifestyle changes! Make the choices that will change your life! Enjoy the adventure and learn from it! It will be one helluva ride!! ^_^
.:~*~:.
In my Done Being the Fat Girl team, a thread was started on what D-O-N-E means to each of us, and I wanted to post it right here so that I will always remember what it means to me.
D - Determined to find myself!
O - Only enjoy the company of those who are supportive, motivating and inspirational! *shows negativity to the door*
N - Never allowing a food or a person to control my life again!
E - Energised to see this journey to the end because I am so DONE!!
.:~*~:.
Three important things I always need to keep in mind on this journey -
1) The more you move, the more you want to move!
2) This does not take perfection. It takes perseverance!
3) Let it Go ~ by Ralph Waldo Emerson.
"Finish each day
And be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and
Absurdities have crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can."
.:~*~:.
Some Quotations I like:
"If a man would move the world, he must first move himself." ~ Socrates
"Don't let the world or your own doubts take away one of the most positive things you have going for yourself; your determination to create a healthier, more energetic, more vibrant, more wonderful YOU." ~ Mike Kramer
"Stand up to your obstacles and do something about them. You will find that they haven't half the strength you think they have." ~ Norman Vincent Peale
"Do, or do not. There is no 'try.'" ~ Jedi Master Yoda
"You can accept or reject the way you are treated by other people. But until you heal the wounds of your past, you will continue to bleed. You can bandage the bleeding with food, with alcohol, with drugs, with work, with cigarettes, with sex, but eventually, it will ooze through and stain your life. You must find the strength to open the wounds, stick your hands inside, pull out the core of the pain that is holding you in your past, the memories, and make peace with them. " ~ Iyanla Vanzant

"Though victory is difficult, defeat is impossible!" ~ Lloyd George
.:~*~:.
Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined. ~ Henry David Thoreau
.:~*~:.
"Even if you fall on your face, you're still moving forward." ~ Victor Kiam
.:~*~:.
"Be yourself. Above all, let who you are, what you are, what you believe, shine through." ~ John Jakes
.:~*~:.
We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us something is valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our touch, sacred to our touch. Once we believe in ourselves we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit.

Blessed be! *hugs* ^_^

Fitness:
* Walk Away the Pounds is my go-to workout. Leslie helped save my life. :)
* BeachBody programs

I'm Australian, currently living in Texas, U.S.A. I miss my homeland with every beat of my heart, but this is where life has brought me. I look forward to the beautiful changes that I know are in my future!
Other Information:
I'm a gamer, and I love anime! I'll happily devour any novel in the fantasy genre, especially if it's written by R.A. Salvatore, Kate Forsyth and David & Leigh Eddings. I'm also a huge fan of the Forgotten Realms novels. I spend far too much time in fantasy realms. ^^
