"I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work, or family, or life. Whatever it is you're scared of doing, do it. Make your mistakes. Next year and forever."

Neil Gaiman

If I have learned ANYthing since joining SparkPeople in 2009 is that it is NEVER too late to start over. Now that I will soon be entering my "50's", I have become ever more concerned about achieving balance--at work, at home--pretty much every area of my life and LESS about perfection. It has become increasingly clear that like before when I was being WAY more consistent, reaching my goals will ONLY come from those little daily successes over TIME like working out, getting enough rest, eating well MOST of time--basically making myself a priority again which is NOT the same as being selfish. But if it were THAT easy, it would already be done, right?

SOOO...Here's the deal folks. I'm not gonna make any WILD promises to myself except the following:

1. to accept the things about myself I cannot change and work like hell to improve the things I can,

2. to regularly endeavor to demonstrate love and acceptance of self and others

and lastly

3. to remember that whatever I send out into world will find its way back to me. KARMA.

Joy is the holy fire that keeps our purpose warm and our intelligence aglow. ~ Helen Keller

I must admit that I personally measure success in terms of the contributions an individual makes to her or his fellow human beings. ~ Margaret Mead

Humanism will affirm life rather than deny it, seek to elicit the possibilities of life, not flee from it, and endeavor to establish the conditions of satisfactory life for all, not merely for the few.
~Excerpted from The Humanist Manifesto, 1933

Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself. Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections but instantly set about remedying them -- every day begin the task anew. ~ Saint Francis de Sales

Listen to the Exhortation of the Dawn!
Look to this Day!
For it is Life, the very Life of Life.
In its brief course lie all the
Verities and Realities of your Existence.
The Bliss of Growth,
The Glory of Action,
The Splendor of Beauty;
For Yesterday is but a Dream,
And To-morrow is only a Vision;
But To-day well lived makes
Every Yesterday a Dream of Happiness,
And every Tomorrow a Vision of Hope.
Look well therefore to this Day!
Such is the Salutation of the Dawn! ~ Kalidasa
