Mar, 2021 Like my Army life long ago, I have my shots. Back at 215 with a fat waist..again. Muscle loss with age (79 1/2) is a real deal. Have to figure my way forward to 195 land and not lose muscle mass, maybe gain a little. Tough to gain when you are old.

3/24/21. I am launching a new effort within a Spark group I am in. It is a 9 week Star Wars themed challenge. My target is 205, improved aerobics and muscle.

My Goals:
Get rid of my accumulated gut. It is a burden in every way. See the other side of 200. Vastly extend my daily walking distance. Be able to get down and up off the floor with ease. Have my tight size 38 pants hang on my hips without a belt instead my belt being on looking like a rope strangling a feed sack.

My Program:
Goals. Walk every day. Use resistance bands/weights every day. Pretty much eliminate highly processed foods and dessert-like items and empty alcohol calories (just dinner wine) from my eating. I set up my treadmill for TV viewing, and my weights are by my desk. Set up and follow Spark food calorie range and track ALL food.

Personal Information:
I live in $ilicon Valley, I am 79, married to my bride of 51 years, and we have 2 daughters who are 1996 Atlanta Olympic Gold Medalists in Synchronized Swimming. They are both still in phenomenal condition. They have given us 5 lovely grandchildren.

Other Information:
Retired at 73 after working a great job 49 years for the same company.
I have no hobbies, except tracking finances and being generous. I enjoy a good laugh, a good meal and fellowship.

Thanks for stopping by my page. I totally understand how your friend feels. When I first started my journey, I weighed over 530 pounds and I didn't do anything if I didn't have to. It was not a fun or happy life. I had to start out walking by holding onto my kitchen counter and walking 100 steps per day. At first, I only walked 25 steps, four times per day. Every few days I'd change how many steps I took in a set and eventually worked up to 100 steps at a time, then added more sets. It definitely was one of the harded things I've ever done. I do have a regular blog at blogspot.com where I've chronicled my entire journey dating back to 2005. The link is on my Sparkpage should you want or need more info to help or inspire. You're doing GREAT! Keep up the great work you're doing! ~Karon

Especially reminding me that all of us parents do things that unselfish "for the greater good". I am amazed that I am talking to the dad of such gifted athletes! WOW! Congrats to YOU pops - without you it wouldn't have been possible!

PS....I guess that explains your name, huh? (I'm a little slow, but eventually I catch on ;)

Where is Frodo Baggins? He is taking the ring of power up the side of Mount Doom to detroy it and reclaim his world for good! You named three of my favorite heros. With each one, their vision is clear and they trudge closer and closer to the goal, regardless of spears, nay sayers, or giant orcs. In the same way we advance, step by step, towards our goal of a healthier lifestyle.

You're doing a great job! Welcome to the 50+ team, Konan!
