Mar, 2021 Like my Army life long ago, I have my shots. Back at 215 with a fat waist..again. Muscle loss with age (79 1/2) is a real deal. Have to figure my way forward to 195 land and not lose muscle mass, maybe gain a little. Tough to gain when you are old.

3/24/21. I am launching a new effort within a Spark group I am in. It is a 9 week Star Wars themed challenge. My target is 205, improved aerobics and muscle.

My Goals:
Get rid of my accumulated gut. It is a burden in every way. See the other side of 200. Vastly extend my daily walking distance. Be able to get down and up off the floor with ease. Have my tight size 38 pants hang on my hips without a belt instead my belt being on looking like a rope strangling a feed sack.

My Program:
Goals. Walk every day. Use resistance bands/weights every day. Pretty much eliminate highly processed foods and dessert-like items and empty alcohol calories (just dinner wine) from my eating. I set up my treadmill for TV viewing, and my weights are by my desk. Set up and follow Spark food calorie range and track ALL food.

Personal Information:
I live in $ilicon Valley, I am 79, married to my bride of 51 years, and we have 2 daughters who are 1996 Atlanta Olympic Gold Medalists in Synchronized Swimming. They are both still in phenomenal condition. They have given us 5 lovely grandchildren.

Other Information:
Retired at 73 after working a great job 49 years for the same company.
I have no hobbies, except tracking finances and being generous. I enjoy a good laugh, a good meal and fellowship.

Thank you for reading my blog “Meeting Resistance…Overcoming Obstacles…”
Canoeing or kayaking on our lake even on a windy day is a lot easier than on the ocean or the
rapids racing you see on TV. I had to adjust the calories that Spark awards for the activity accordingly - way downward. LOL

Thank you for reading my blog “The Right Stuff” and sharing your story.
I remember calling cigarettes "cancer sticks" but so many I knew just took it as a joke.
With all we know today, I cannot understand why anyone would start smoking now.

With my flat, overpronating floppy feet (think Flippo the Clown), I replace my running shoes every 500-600 miles or every 6 months, whichever comes first. Then those are relegated to less strenuous daily activity, eventually to live out their life as gardening or boat shoes. Finally if still in good, clean shape, I replace my orthotics with the original inner soles and take them to a homeless shelter. I have really big feet. Men can wear my shoes.

Thank you for reading my “Yellow Brick Road” blog and adding your very descriptive perspective on the analogy. I love it.
May the force be with you in your upcoming challenge.

I hope we can all travel safely again very soon. There’s such a lot of world to see.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my blog.
I now have my rehearsal as a weekly event in my phone calendar so I'm reminded 1/2 hour early with a nice loud alarm.
No socks, you say? I have to remember to comb my hair.
