I mentioned being addicted...? My next race is this Friday. I think I have at least one every weekend through August and a few in September.
Those races truly are my motivation to stick it through my runs during the week. They take on a whole new meaning when you are in "training" for your races as opposed to just going out for a run. It gives me a constant goal to strive for and a set number of miles to work up to. I have to do so many miles tonight because the race coming up is this many miles...
I dropped three minutes off of my time from my first race to my second. The first race is a really good way to gauge what a race is like, how long it feels, the kinds of people that will be running it with you, just overall what to expect. I'm right there with you on it. I have my first 10k this Friday.
I'm sure you will drop your time for your next race.

Ahh! Swasley! Congratulations on completing your first 5k! You had a great time.
There is no feeling like seeing your family at the finish line cheering you in. I always save a sprint for the finish to show off a bit so my husband is extra proud of me : )
Are you addicted yet? Have you already signed up for 12 more races?
