MARCH 2014

I am 5'3" and weigh 220 pounds - obviously way too much for my height! I'm not even really sure how I got here. I've gained 60 pounds since I got married (and 65 pounds since meeting my husband!). I do know that I cannot continue to live like this. I've lost and gained weight so many times it's ridiculous! I'm one of those people who will lose 20 then gain 30, or lose 10 then gain 15, so it seems like the more I lose, the heaver I get eventually! I am going to this of this segment of my journey as "starting fresh" instead of "starting over".

I am married and have 2 fabulous children. Emma is 8 and Jacob is 5, and I'd love nothing more than to be a good example for them. I've reached the point where I feel so bad about myself that I avoiding doing things with my kids - things like swimming, and running around with them. It's not fair to limit their activities because of my own body issues, so I really need to become more healthy so that we can be a happier family.

I need to lose 80 pounds to reach a healthy BMI. I will need to break this down into more manageable segments, but have not done that yet...more to come on this!

I recently discovered - purely by accident - that I am very sensitive to gluten. Since my first pregnancy I have experienced heartburn, fatigue, brain fog, and joint/muscle pain. I had chalked this up to being overweight and out of shape, but last year I worked with a dietician who suspected a food sensitivity. I wasn't convinced, but went on an elimination diet more to satisfy her than anything else. Turns out she was right - within the first week of eliminating gluten (along with dairy, soy, peanuts and eggs), I felt 15 years younger. The joint pain disappeared and my mind felt completely clear. I had tons of energy and the heartburn disappeared - it was amazing! I slowly added back dairy, eggs and peanuts, but as soon as I added back gluten all the symptoms returned. I was shocked and not too happy since I love bread and baked goods. I try to stay away from gluten, but have not been doing well with that lately. Need to bet back on track with going gluten-free!

MY PLAN FOR NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2014 - I'm going to try Shape Reclaimed again. My hope is to lose 40 pounds on this program, which will put me half-way to my goal weight. This is a homeopathic version of the HCG diet, and does involve taking drops 3 times a day, but these drops do not contain hormones. I was skeptical when I first heard of this, but have seen friends be very successful with this program. It's worth a try - if I decide I hate it, I'll find another way!

My Goals:

I'll break this down into smaller segments, though:

(1) 200 LBS
(2) 190 LBS
(3) 181 LBS
(4) 172 LBS
(5) 160 LBS
(6) 154 LBS
(7) 145 LBS
(8) 141 LBS

I know these seem like odd goal weights to choose, but each has special meaning to me.

My Program:
Starting out with Shape Reclaimed, mostly because I really just need to see quick results at first to keep me engaged and enthusiastic. I hope to lose the first 40 pounds on this program. After that, I may try to transition over to a more "traditional" approach. We'll see how it goes...

Personal Information:
I live in the St. Louis area (Wildwood, to be specific) and am a transplant - we moved here about 8 years ago and absolutely love it!! We plan to stay here permanently.

Other Information:
