January 10, 2020: The 2020 Winter 5% Challenge starts tomorrow! Woohoo! This will be my second 5% Challenge, both times as a Casual Traveler. I can't wait to see what I accomplish this season.

December 26, 2019: We're already 3 weeks down on the Sleigh Bell Slimdown, and I'm doing well! The 2020 Winter 5% Challenge starts January 11th. I'll be ready!! These challenge teams really make this fun and motivating. And I definitely like having the accountability!

December 7th, 2019: I've just been added as a late addition to the Biggest Loser "Sleigh Bell Slimdown" Winter Challenge as an Honorary Rockin' Red Fox! Yippee!

2019 Fall 5% Challenge complete! I didn't meet my goal, but I made 39% of my goal, which is actually better than I expected. LOL This Casual Traveler will be joining every season. Challenges are fun! :D For the winter break I'm joining the Awesome A's to keep my momentum going until the 2020 Winter 5% Challenge starts.

Today is September 9th, 2019. It has been a very long time since I've been on SP. And apparently if you're inactive long enough, they revoke all your Spark Points! I guess I get to start over and watch them climb again. 😊 Hello everyone! 🙂

My Goals:
My goal is to get in better shape overall so that I have more energy, get my borderline high cholesterol in check, and feel good about my body. I will tone up my muscles, increase my flexibility, and improve my endurance for cardio. I would love to be a runner, but in the past any attempts have failed. I am taking it slow and trying to work my way up to it this time.

I will drastically improve my eating habits and get more fruits and veggies in my diet, more calcium and iron, and reduce the sodium, sugar, and fat. I've only realized since tracking my foods on SparkPeople that I also don't get nearly enough protein. So that's one more thing I'll be keeping an eye on.

My Program:
I'm still working on a program that will work for me.

Personal Information:
My name is Melissa, and I am a 42 year old in South Carolina. I have an adventurous spirit, but am also quite cautious and timid, so I don't get to act on my dreams as often as I'd like. I know being in better shape physically will help me feel more confident about reaching for my dreams, especially since so many of the things on my bucket list are physical in nature. I would LOVE to go to Scotland one day. I like to imagine myself being in fantastic shape and being able to hike both the West Highland Way AND the Great Glen Way.
