Heya- my mail is being silly, but in response to your mail about UC: I'm not happy that I can't see a doctor but I'm doing great so far. It's been over a year now since I've been medicated or seen a doctor. Everyone's different, remember that. I have been taking my chia seeds regularly. They keep my bowels functioning properly and keep inflammation down. I make sure I get a lot of omega fatty acids (by eating Salmon, chia, nuts, etc). I stay away from foods that cause inflammation (dairy, except that I eat a lot of yogurt because of the good bacteria for my GI tract). I eat a very balanced diet (lots of raw or steamed veggies, whole grains, lentils, chicken, fish, fresh fruits, nuts, etc). I stay away from refined sugar as well (because it causes inflammation). I also stay away from caffeine, alcohol and carbonation. The caffeine is just messes with peristalsis so much, it's not worth it. I also do not eat any artificial sugars (aspartame, splenda) or high fructose corn syrup. Exercise helps me a lot as well, to relieve stress (a main factor with UC) and keep my bowels functioning. As long as I keep low stress levels, keep inflammation down, and make sure I get enough soluble fiber (chia, potatoes, oat bran, bananas I think), I do really well. I can't dwell on the fact that I can't see a doctor, otherwise I stress and the UC flares. Remember: good bacteria (yogurt or probiotics), soluble fiber, keep inflammation down, and keep stress down (do yoga or meditation, take baths, exercise, use lavender for sleeping, etc). Taking care of myself in this way, has changed my entire way of life and viewpoint on things, in a GOOD way. I'm a very happy person right now. I'll be starting my Master's of Science in Biology in the fall :D

Keep your chin up sister. Jehovah will carry you through anything you have to face. It is never easy to deal with our babies getting sick, especially something more than a common cold. Thankfully there is treatment. It is so commendable that despite having health problems yourself, you want to take good care of yourself and are a part of this program.

Here is a HUG, to get you thru the days. Always remember you are not alone. This journey is long and slow if we are going to do it right. It's a lifestyle change and not a diet. And it's OK to lose the UMPH to get MOVIN' again and be on the right track.

But we are SO WORTH IT, to continue the struggle UPWARDS towards beating this BATTLE of the BULGE that so wants to BEAT US DOWN.

But I say NO, NO, NO!!!!!!!!!! It, LBS, will not WIN, WE WILL WIN!!! YES, WE ARE WOMEN, and WE ARE STRONGER THAN LBS!!! Hugs, Anna
