God Bless you! Luisa aka Stormy (team leader)
A week before i found Sparkpeople i was at my wits end. I was having all sorts of issues health wise. I had just gotten a clean bill of health from my Doctor. I was tested for Cholesterol, Anemia, Diabetes, High blood pressure. I also got an EKG, and Ultra-sound of my major artery to make sure my blood was flowing properly, You name it and i got it done. My Doctor said. i was in excellent health for my age and for my weight. I said to myself in the privacy of my bedroom " my God if im so healthy, then why is it im feeling so crappy?' So at that time i decided to join weight watcher online. And there it was Sparkpeople!!! I joined and here i am almost 2 months later and 25 pounds lighter and feeling like a new person.
Ive met so many wonderful people on Sparks. They have motivated, inspired, and encouraged me to heights I have never thought possible before. Everything ive accomplished thus far almost seemed unattainable. I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for all that i am today and all that i hope to be in the future. Love my Spark-family
Three years Prior to Sparkpeople....
For 2 years i was slowly getting out of breath. but i attributed to being overweight. and i had stopped smoking 2 yrs prior. I thought perhaps I had waited to long to stop. I went to a pulmonary Dr. they said i had asthma, but i knew that was wrong and told her so...but still took asthma pump and went back to her and told her it was not working...cus i didn't have asthma. then my legs were swelling. she gave me water pills..then i was getting dizzy alot and she gave me pills for dizziness.. Also i was eating ice like a Junkie. i worked in a school and the nurse told me ur eating ice 24/7 do u know that is a sign of anemia? i said i didnt know that, so i told my Doctor and she shrugged it off like i was crazy. she said keep taking meds. These Fricken Dr.s want to over medicate u...excuse the french but it really pissed me off that this Dr. could have killed me....giving every pill under the sun and i was losing blood slowly and she never took my blood...
anyway still not breathing and getting worse....i couldn't even get out my car and walk to my front door without heaving to catch my breath...it was so bad that just turning from one side to another in bed i was out of breath. and still Dr. said i have asthma. my husband being the exercise freak that he is...he said babe I've never told u anything about ur weight but i think now is the time to think about getting some off because of ur deteriating health, and i agreed...so he had me on the treadmill and in 2 mins time i was ready to pass out because i could not breath, i was so out of breath ...he said eventually we will increase your mins as time goes by...so for 3 days never made it passed 3 mins ...little did we know he could have helped the Dr. kill me off... He felt so bad. now when i tell him something is wrong he listens...this went on for 2 yrs. going back and forth to the Dr. with swollen feet. not breathing etc. then one day i had a pain in my back right lung area and i swore that i had lung cancer the pain was so bad...still thinking i had waited to long to stop smoking..i was rushed to ER and they did lung xrays and blood...
Dr. came back and said good news and bad!! good new is ur lungs are fine...now i was puzzled...he said but ur blood came out low...i said what does that mean...he said he didn't know how i was walking around but i had lost alot of blood...and that i needed a blood transfusion....I laughed i said are u kidding me...i come for pain in back and u want to give me transfusion....i thought to myself these Drs. are fricken nuts...i was already getting dress to run out of there. and he told my husband if i left i may not make it thru the night. my husband teared up and said baby take the transfusion please. so i did even though i thought they were nuts. Then he asked me if i had any symptoms like the above i had described and i said yes all of them...and i was going to my Dr. for 2 yrs and she was treating me for asthma..
he said my hemoglobin was a 3 and normal is a 15....he said i had God on my side because, he cant figure out how i was walking around,,,and mind u i was still working....so the long and short of it was i ended up getting 9 pints of blood. i go to check blood every 6 months and for 2 yrs it was good till this yr. 3 months ago started dizzy again and Dr. said blood is low again...(not the same Dr. dumped that one) He prescribed iron vitamins, but stomach cant take it....so i do high iron foods instead and eating better and that is how i came to SP...i prayed about it and there it was!!! i think God doesn't want me yet. because he brought me to Sp....This is my Stormy Story (hence the name)
