Spiralling in on SUCCESS!

One of my passions in life has been ice dancing; my Sparkname and page are a reminder of that! On ice, as you spin or curl into a centered point, the skate blade etches a spiralling edge; to me it is a great image of motion and intention... both qualities I bring to this new endeavor in my life.

My kids are active and interesting people - my greatest desire is to continue to be healthy and active enough to share their interests and have some incredible experiences together. I have a wonderful man in my life who has been down the weightloss road ahead of me; he is a great mentor!

I was aware of my weight as early as grade one. As a ballet dancer and then a figure skater, my body seemed to be my greatest enemy. It took me years to just accept that I didn't have the body type that is typical for either activity. Even as a teen I did TOPS, a variety of fad diets, then later in life I tried Herbal Magic, Weight Watchers and Dr B. I lost 42 lbs on the last one, and it was the wake-up call. When my blood sugar dropped so low that I collapsed in the office, I realized that I couldn't do it anymore. Of course, the weight did not stay off and I spent quite awhile reflecting and journalling on what I wanted to do. I am still in that process; letting go of the "quick-fix" mentality and moving to a "life-style" way of thinking is a big change for me!

My Goals:
I am headed to Scotland in spring of 2014 to curl in 2 bonspeils; I intend to be healthy and ready for that adventure! - UPDATE: Done!

I am now planning a Bike and Barge tour through the Netherlands in spring 2021. Time to re-group and prepare for this next adventure.

My Program:
I am back to meal planning and tracking my activities, which mostly include yoga, biking and walking.

Personal Information:
I am a BC girl, relocated to AB!

I adore the mountains, I am a winter-lover and I definitely enjoy a good cup of coffee! I do not like chocolate - but will take cheese any day! :)

Other Information:
My Dad loves to use the line "Impossible just takes a little longer". That saying has lead me to some pretty OCD behaviour, but it has the kernel of motivation that I admire! I DO think out of the box and I love a challenge, so -- if there is a motto I live by, that would be one!

Thanks for reading my "black spray paint blog"....we haven't had any problems with chipping so far. Since everything (except the shutters) was really old and needed replacing, we did this as an experiment. If it hadn't worked, we would have gotten new fixtures. It will be interesting to see how well it holds up. It was an "exterior" spray paint for metal so it's possible that it will be okay. We'll see....

I DO enjoy coffee, though I don't drink it as much as some do.

How ironic to hear from you. I didn't put it on my page, but I've been laid up with an official case of dizziness. Even am missing my 3rd day of work. It's come on only twice in my life; the first time, it was pretty much over in a few hours. This time.... Hey, how about sending me some spiraling vibe!

African dance is my movement thing. Don't need partners, but a group makes things better. I hope you find a partner soon, but I'm sure there's got to be a kick in just getting out there, too. Movement and music! Aren't we lucky not to have physical conditions that keep us from enjoying it?

Wish we could gab sometime. I've been to Macchu Picchu, though I didn't do the hike in and it was cloudy and misty all day when I was there. It made it rather mysterious and ...Scottish!. It is definitely a world-class site. But also know that besides Lima, Cusco is the most developed place in Peru. There are hundreds of archeological sites in the country, but much harder to get to and stay near. So enjoy the toilet paper! emoticon
