Hi! My name is Tina and I've always had a battle with my weight. I had gained some measure of normalcy in high school, but after marriage and then having 5 children in 7 years I quickly packed back on pounds ... plus. Add in some extreme emotional eating while having marriage problems early on and I "miraculously" ended up weighing over 350 lbs.

Result ... I found out I was a diabetic (type 2) the week I turned 40. I managed to lose 50 lbs after that, but have been hovering around 300# now for YEARS, using every excuse NOT to really change my bad eating habits and dislike of exercise. In the past few years, I've really started having additional problems ... abdominal cramping/pain, leg edema, bathroom issues. These symptoms kept getting worse despite the fact that my primary care provider (military) kept telling me it was normal with "the change". It finally got bad enough that I insisted on being seen offbase. Two biopsies were done in June 2012, and it was cancer (late stage3 endometrial). I wasn't fearful, in fact, I almost felt vindicated!

First, they got me into surgery quickly - a radical hysterectomy with 47 lymph nodes removed. The cancer had spread past my uterus into the cervix, then the vaginal vault, and into one lymph node. Although, the doctors feel the cancer was removed, chemo and radiation were recommended as safeguards. First, chemo (Sept through Jan) and then the radiation, internal and external treatments. I'm happy to say I'm in my last week of radiation now (Mar 2013).

Throughout this entire process, my family and church family have been supportive and have agreed with my husband and I in prayer for healing and restoration of my life. This goes beyond the cancer and treatments .... it reaching into my life-long lack of self-worth to take care of myself. After recovery, I will have to start back exercising and watching what I eat in order to get healthier (and slimmer). I don't know what God has in store for me, but regardless of cancer or no cancer, I know it's GOOD because He is a GOOD GOD!!

Thanks for your comment on my sparkpage. I can soooo relate to your weighing more than your husband. I don't know if I will ever weigh less than my hubby. I think he's under 170lbs. I guess time will tell. Like you, I am also 5'10'' and I don't want to be a skinny when this is all over. I like my curves! I just want to be healthy and be able to walk into any store and grab multiple items to try on without thinking about it. That will be a good day!

    God bless!

    Hey Tina!
Thanks so much for my Personal Chef! Woohoo....She started in this morning, going thru my cabinets and food bins and weeding out some stuff...haha

I am so close to seeing 199 that I really need to get with the program and stop foolin' around!
    Thanks for the encouragement!
