Until this year (2013) I had focused my ALL to raise my 2 children. Now they are healthy, happy, educated, responsible young adults. I love them to the moon and stars. I don't regret one minute of putting them first over all things for the past 20 years, including myself.
When they were little (grade 4-5) people used to say to me, you know, you are going to have to let them go one day! I thought to myself yep, I will - but not today...
When I woke up the day after my daughter's graduation, I knew that the day had come.
It is now my turn to be proud of myself. Focus on me.
Somewhere down the road I crossed the line to obese. I am not comfortable here. I used to be the strongest person I knew, I skied, swam, biked and laughed. I don't know where that person went. I would like to find her.

I know there are people out there watching to see how I manage without my kids because I literally lived for them. I know there are people waiting for me to fail. This time, I am not doing this to show ANYONE I can do this. This next stage is just for me - win loose or draw.

My desires are to run my dogs in agility with energy and for the sheer fun of it. We have 4 dogs. The 2 Australian shepherds are agility dogs that my daughter and I train and run. The German shepherd is trained in search and rescue, disaster and rubble, by my husband (much too serious a business for me) however I do take him to play agility sometimes. It can't all be math math math you gotta have PE sometimes. And one old fart who started the whole "everybody's-gotta-have-a-dog" mess. He is a lab/sheltie cross who would work himself to death to please his people. He started agility at 8-1/2 years old, and qualified for the Nationals twice. He will be 14 in January 2014 and I don't know what my life will be like with out him.

I am treating my spark experience as an online course. I've joined Spark Coach for a full year and plan to make a daily commitment to it.

I started yoga in May of 2012. Kripalu yoga is teaching me to be gentle on myself - body mind and spirit. I believe this to be the biggest factor in getting me back to Spark with a desire to put myself in a high place of importance.

I would like to put the 50 pounds of extra weight I carry daily into a backpack in the form of tent, food, cooking gear and go hiking in the mountains. That way I will be able to take it off when I want to. While there I plan to leave the weight of the weight in the mountains.

I eliminated wheat from my diet in July 2013. It has been easier than I thought so far. I am looking forward to seeing if it will eliminate joint pain, flatulence and that darn belly. After 4 months I can say it has made a difference, less flatulence, my rings swing on my fingers and my belly is not hard and distended all the time. I've lost 18 pounds that I could not loose in the past. I know that I have changed other things in my life but I feel this is a serious contributing factor.

At 183 pounds I will have reduced my body mass by 20%. I feel this is significant enough to have an hour long massage. ohh can't wait.

at 179 pounds - I haven't seen a 7 in my weight since 1995. Weighing 200 pound before the birth of my 2nd child I was unable to reduce my weight to pre prego weight forever thus. This will be the beginning of a new era. I would like to join a running program at this time which I am hoping to be close to the new year.

At 167 pounds I will be on the borderline of over weight and healthy weight on the BMI scale therefore eligible for a breast reduction. This was another catapult back to Spark as I was denied to be on a list because of my weight. It seems that this was just the news I was waiting for. It gave me a reason above all other reasons.

At 160 pounds I will be the weight I was after the birth of my son in 1994. Here I would like to stay for 6-8 months to try maintenance for a BIG change.

Longer term (withing 2.5 years) - aim for 145-155 pounds. I will work with my Dr to see if this is something I should do or will even want to do. time will tell.

long long term (within 5 years) Hike to a mountain village in Peru. Maybe Matchu Pichu (maybe by then I will know how to spell it! ;-) )
