This is a journey I have tried to take on my own for the last few years but have been unable to do so. I need the support and encouragement of others who understand the struggle a person can have with weight and hope that I will find this in the Spark community. I want to be able to be that same support and encouragement to others who are likewise wanting to take this journey or who have already begun.

I've gone from 306 lbs. in June 2004 to 181 lbs, by December 2005 with the help of a gastric bypass, healthy eating, and exercise. Up until now, I could never understand how anyone who went through this surgery and worked hard to lose the weight would ever allow themselves to gain any weight back. I sure understand it now, as I am now one of those persons.

Today I weigh 254 lbs, having regained nearly 75 lbs. I now understand how it can happen. Mine is only one story and there are many. If you are interested in details, please check my first blog.

I have always known my worth, it is in having been made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), and yet my life has been a contradiction and I have lived in denial of my worth.

And so, this day, I commit to wholesome health...spiritually, physically and emotionally.

I appreciate all the help and support I can get and will offer the same to anyone sincerely trying to walk this same journey. Good luck to you. This is my prayer for all in the SP Community!

Fitness Minutes: 1,200

My Goals:
My short term goal is to lose 25 lbs and find a full time job by August 1, 2009. Here I'll weigh 231 lbs. with a BMI of , I'll still be "obese" and no where nearhealthy but I'll have hit the first milestone of my journey to wellness!

Next big goal is to drop 25 lbs more by Christmas '09. This will be another milestone and I will be 206 lbs.

Then comes the next 25 by Easter to get me back to my lowest weight in Dec. '05, 181 lbs!! At this point, I can remove the word "obese" from my vocabulary!!!

The final lap is an additional 35-45 lbs depending on how I am feeling and what the doctor says!

My Program:
1) Learn to identify when I am really physically hungry versus being thirsty or emotionally hungry and only then will I eat.
2) Learn to identify when I am physically full versus emotionally full and then stop eating whether or not I have cleaned my plate.
3) Increase intake of vegetables and fruits, whole grains and lean protein, especially vegetable protein.
4) Drink 8-10 ounces of water daily.
5) Wear an odometer and increase daily number of steps taken to 10,000.

Personal Information:
I am from Northeast Ohio and live in a southwest suburb of Cleveland.

I would love to find a buddy from this area who has similar goals and would like to lose weight and improve their health and wellness with a new friend...maybe walk and exercise together and even be there to help talk each other into staying on track when we are craving something unhealthy or wanting to skip exercise, etc.

Other Information:
A great source of relaxation to me is working in my garden and enjoying the great outdoors. I also like to volunteer as much as I can through my church and community. I am crazy about animals, especially Sasha (dog) and Nika (cat), who make up my "immediate" family. I value time spent with my human family and friends and want to learn Italian and Spanish so that one day, when I make it to Europe, I will be able to speak and visit with relatives there. I love to read and study new things and am hooked on the TV show "24."

    It’s cold outside, but Spring is coming! Are you ready to join a Challenge? The Biggest Loser Challenge is looking for members for it’s next Challenge starting the first week of March. The challenge consists of 11 Teams, that participate in 10 weeks of Nutritional and Fitness Challenges.     Hi there, Gina. It's been quite a while since i checked in with ya. I hope all is well with you. I've had a rough patch for about the last 5-6 weeks, but by the Grace of God, I am right back on track and not worried about a thing. One good thing here is we get as many "do overs" as we need. Today is a new day. I hope you're doing OK so far on your journey. wow, you sure get a lot of emoticons in your comments from others. I'm only gonna use a couple. Take care and God Bless.
