I've been fat my whole life-- a healthy fat person in general who went to the gym and ate lots of luscious wonderful local organic vegetables, beans, meats and other wonderful clean foods. Unfortunately, despite the healthy habits, my weight stayed around 306 (in periods of stress it shot up to 322, but I could always lose that again quickly).

Unfortunately, my blood sugar decided to go haywire on me. A routine test showed I had a fasting blood sugar in the 130s, although it was pretty normal the rest of the day/ after meals etc. A1C was 5.8. My mom who is diabetic has high blood sugar in the morning too. I don't mind being fat, but I sure as sh!t wasn't going to become diabetic.

In 2016, when this went down, the doctor told me to lose weight and the issue would take care of itself. I lost 20 lbs, which should have helped some, but my numbers were exactly the same in 2017 when I finally went back for a check up (doctor had been very dismissive that I could weigh as much as I did and have healthy habits, which turned me off to going back for longer than it should have).

So, I researched how to eat to lower blood sugar-- the answer is a lot of nonstarchy veggies, nuts, pastured animal products, and healthy fats. My fasting blood sugar is now 104, very close to normal, and I've lost 40 lbs without really trying or feeling like I was dieting. It's hard to eat at restaurants, but otherwise pretty easy. So I'm riding this vegetable low carb train as long as I can.

260 by Xmas-- missing this one, body decided to hold on to weight all fall despite my efforts, 278 now (Dec. 23)... Now 267 Nov. 1 2018-- body really is holding on

Walk a half marathon on May 19 in under 4 hours and 30 minutes.
Run a pumpkin 5K in October with a time better than my last 5k.

My Program:
I've moved from low carb to macros after starting a crossfit like workout-- apparently if you want to lift weights you have to eat some carbs, or so they tell me.

    I learned a great lesson how my body reacts to sodium by the 10 pound weight gain.

    My husband and I did enjoy our meals at Red Lobster. I have been drinking water to try to get rid of water retention.

    Are you interested in a Challenge?

    The Biggest Loser goes for 10 weeks. It consists of 10 teams participating in weekly Fitness and Nutrition challenges. The Spring challenge will be getting started the beginning of March.
