I started this journey at the highest weight I've ever been (317 lbs) in 2016. Since starting on SparkPeople, I've lost over 50 lbs so far, most of that was in 2017 while in 2018 I mostly maintained. I do notice a difference, not only in the things I’m physically capable of doing (after doing ZR5K, I was able to run, albeit slowly, a 5k for the first time in my life which is something I’ve always wanted to do), but mentally as well. Last year I made it a point to go out every weekend whether it was to the store, the park...just something to get me out of my comfort zone and be around people to help fight my depression and social anxiety. I’m able to get out of the house now without much issue (mostly) and I’m hoping to join some kind of class where I interact with people. While I maintained a more active lifestyle in 2018, I admit I failed to focus on nutrition. This year my goal is balance and focusing on both.

My Program:
Stay within the nutrition ranges SparkPeople provides.

Be more active in everyday life. Walk at least 3x a week. Weights once a week.

Take better care of myself both mentally and physically as well as make an effort to think more positively.

Baby steps. Example: Switching from regular chips to baked. Going from eating out several times a week to a couple down to one. Regular soda to diet to flavored water to regular water. Switching a snack cake out for a piece of fruit. Nothing is off limits, but everything in moderation. Track everything!
