I am over 60 but feel like I am much older due to severe arthritis in my knees. Since I started spark people, I have tapered down my sugar intake and I notice some real health results like my skin looks better and my scalp is healthier.

I want to be able to
1. walk without a cane
2. shop in regular sizes instead of in "plus sizes"
3. climb stairs without being puffed out.

I couldn't walk when I started physiotherapy and cortisone treatment. Now I walk 2X per day.

My Goals:
June 26 - Done the 230 thing. Now want to get to 220....

I am approaching this in small steps. I would like to get to 230 pounds.

My Program:
At a conference I attended on diabetes prevention, a presenter said he asked his clients "What are you willing to do?" He said his clients knew what they SHOULD do but they only adhered to a program if they knew they could succeed so he would ask them to pick one thing they were willing to do and the next time he met with them, he asked the same question. It didn't matter whether they had been successful or not, they had to keep trying.

So my program is the "I am willing to do this program" I won't accept being hungry and I can't eat too many raw vegetables because they give me diarrhea. I am willing to forego dessert and I am willing to add more cooked veggies to my diet.

Personal Information:
I used to love hiking. Weight prevents me from doing that as I now have osteoarthritis.
I used to take 3 walks a day. Can't even walk across a room anymore.
I am 61 and the medical folks tell me that if I get knee replacement now, I will have to get them again in the future as 61 is quite young. Does not feel young to me.

Other Information:
I go through phases when certain songs inspire me to workout. Presently my favorite workout songs are:
