I had my first baby a year ago, and am struggling to lose the baby weight and get back into shape. I'm also struggling to eat healthy - I've been passionate about eating all of my life, and I've always worked out hard (and extreme) to combat that. NOW, however, my body can't work out the way that it used to (bad knees), and I'm at a loss on how to shop for the right foods - a basic, simple balance of good fats and carbs. I've never really had to think like that, before. I'm also not a natural in the kitchen (to put it mildly). I put all of my focus and energy on my daughter's dietary needs, and as a result, mine have really gone downhill. Part of it is lack of sleep, lack of energy, etc...
For me, there are three goals that I'm working towards.
1) I want feel comfortable in my skin. I want to feel lighter, more energetic, more agile.
2) I want to be healthy for my family. I developed Gestational Diabetes during pregnancy, which puts me at a high risk for developing type II diabetes. My goal is to create a new, sustainable way of eating and working out that will lower my risk.
3) I'm hypertensive - right on the border. I want to get my BP back into normal ranges.
