I am in my ninth year of living a healthy life style!!
I am celebrating my eighth Sparkversary with SparkPeople February 12, 2020. I reached my goal weight on 2/7/12 - almost a year to the day I joined SparkPeople!! Sometimes my weight goes up a little bit, but I manage to drop it back down and maintain with different challenges on the SparkPeople web site, the support of my SparkBuddies as well as future physical goals.

I started off with walking. If you would have told me years before that I would run a 5k, I would have never believed it!

As of today, I have run 5ks, 10k's, 3 ten milers, and 5 Half Marathons! Funny how fast one's perspective can change...even for us middle-aged people!

Even though I have conquered all of the above, I am faced with an even bigger "challenge". I lost my 26 year old son five years ago to Anorexia Nervosa. I am still in the grieving process and it is very difficult. I need to stay healthy, but, it is not the first thing on my mind. And, since he passed away from counting calories, weighing himself on the scale 3 times per day, and eating halves of everything - it has been a real mental challenge for me.

I am a pescetarian. I have been on a "whole foods" plan since November, 2018. I eat 1 ingredient foods. I haven't eaten meat in 5 years. I no longer eat white flour, eggs or dairy. Watch the movie "Forks Over Knives" on Netflix or Amazon Prime for more info.

My favorite quotes...

Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live. - Jim Rohn

What you are doing is not nearly as important as how you feel about what you are doing. - Unknown

There'll be two dates on your tombstone. And all your friends will read 'em. But all that's gonna matter is that little dash between 'em. - Kevin Welch

All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them. Walt Disney

Accomplishment only takes place when you actively participate with your intentions. Therefore, fully commit to participate in the dreams of your choice and do so against all the risks confronting you. Guru Singh

emoticon Thank you for the wonderful comment on my status. I still have a lot of weight around the midsection. I have nicely defined collar bones, face and shoulders, but I am still flabby in a few places. I have definitely switched my focus to one more of toning than losing.

I lost my cat and my dog in 2010. The animals I have now were rescued as well. I grieved and grieved and then decided I have room for another cat and another dog. They are each different and they don't replace the ones that died. There are so many out there needing a place to live and a chance to be loved.

They make me laugh and keep me company. I am alone for long hours. My husband gets up for work at 4 AM and doesn't get home until after 6 PM in the evening.

Sometimes they can be very trying, but other times when they are lovin' on me, it makes it worth while.

I hope your surgery goes well and that you have a good recovery afterwards.

You are welcome about the chair exercise, glad to help.

On your Start page for Spark People, type in chair exercises where it has a blank space and the word Search after it. I think if you add it to Favorites on your computer, you could come back to it when you are ready to exercise.
