I am in my ninth year of living a healthy life style!!
I am celebrating my eighth Sparkversary with SparkPeople February 12, 2020. I reached my goal weight on 2/7/12 - almost a year to the day I joined SparkPeople!! Sometimes my weight goes up a little bit, but I manage to drop it back down and maintain with different challenges on the SparkPeople web site, the support of my SparkBuddies as well as future physical goals.

I started off with walking. If you would have told me years before that I would run a 5k, I would have never believed it!

As of today, I have run 5ks, 10k's, 3 ten milers, and 5 Half Marathons! Funny how fast one's perspective can change...even for us middle-aged people!

Even though I have conquered all of the above, I am faced with an even bigger "challenge". I lost my 26 year old son five years ago to Anorexia Nervosa. I am still in the grieving process and it is very difficult. I need to stay healthy, but, it is not the first thing on my mind. And, since he passed away from counting calories, weighing himself on the scale 3 times per day, and eating halves of everything - it has been a real mental challenge for me.

I am a pescetarian. I have been on a "whole foods" plan since November, 2018. I eat 1 ingredient foods. I haven't eaten meat in 5 years. I no longer eat white flour, eggs or dairy. Watch the movie "Forks Over Knives" on Netflix or Amazon Prime for more info.

My favorite quotes...

All you can change is yourself, but sometimes that changes everything! Gary W. Goldstein

Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live. - Jim Rohn

What you are doing is not nearly as important as how you feel about what you are doing. - Unknown

There'll be two dates on your tombstone. And all your friends will read 'em. But all that's gonna matter is that little dash between 'em. - Kevin Welch

All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them. Walt Disney

Accomplishment only takes place when you actively participate with your intentions. Therefore, fully commit to participate in the dreams of your choice and do so against all the risks confronting you. Guru Singh

ahhh the ye ole cabbage soup diet.. i remember it well! people still use it in the navy to drop weight before official weigh ins :)
I agree with you. it's not that my body wants mcdonalds but the missing nutrients.. i am going to try cycling. 3 to 4 days of the fat flush diet.. and one day of eating healthy in my calorie range.. and see how that goes. it's hard to get over 600 calories in on the fat flush diet. escpecially if you can't eat 3 cups of that soup in one meal :)
I am thinking it will curb my urges.. it takes about 4 days to kick in.

Thanks for commenting on my blog. I have been deprived of a LOT of things lately. I've been trying to follow the 17 Day Diet. It's very restrictive for the first cycle of 17 days. Then you get to start adding in other things in the next 2 cycles. My husband was bummed too, and more than a little mad.

Today I'm going to go home and while my chicken is cooking for dinner I'm going to clean the bedrooms. After dinner and dishes I'm going to clean the living room and dining room. Then I'll take a bubble bath and spend some time on Spark. He travels every week so I try to do a little cleaning each night to stay busy and so I don't have to do it on the weekend when he's home.

I like the smell of geraniums. I don't have any plants indoors. When I worked, I bought bulbs. We lived at our old house then. When spring came, the kids would pick my flowers to take to their teachers. I had tulips and daffodils.

I have one flower bed that I want to redo, but I would have to barter for more plants. We have purple violets that grow wild and I am thinking of transplanting some of them and seeing if they will take hold.

My sister gave me plants when we got settled in the new house, but I didn't know how tall some of them would grow and I have the tallest ones at he edge of the flowerbed. They need to be moved. I have some hens and chicks or whatever they are called that were here from the previous owners. Thistles are trying to take over the bed.

The flowerbed gets full sunlight and the plants have to be hardy to survive.
