I need to lose 50lbs so that I can have hip surgery and to enjoy the rest of my life.
I enjoy the country life style,books(own10,000 plus)recently downsized. so my books and I now reside in a 10x50 ft mobile home in the high desert of California. I recently retired from the Probation Department after 26 years of working with troubled teens. I love Pine Trees,Books, animals,Books, movies, bingo, books, Indian Casinos, books and more books1I have so many books i had to start selling them on line to support my book habit. My dream is to see a real live moose!,I went to yellow stone in June and all the moose hid from me!
I had double Hip-Replacement surgery .The fright hip April 1st and the second June 3rd.I regained 20 plus pounds staying at my sister's house.I spent most of the time lying on my bed reading.
I had to use a walker and had a lot of trouble getting around.
By October,I was able to walk without a walker or cane.
I started hiking on the local Rez and BLM land.Dirt roads and hills. Last week I walked 3 miles in the Calif.heat.I wanted to vomit and my hips hurt but I did it anyway.Of course I complain the whole time, but I'm proud of myself when the torture is over.
My goal is 6 miles then we will see what to conquer.

First off, Happy Thanksgiving !! Thanks for your sparkgift and your warm welcome. As for the Jeep, it was always a dream of mine. I bought a 91 TJ used and hit a couple of fireroads, but soon figured out it would be nice to have companions. I had a heck of a time finding a club that would allow a woman driver. Finally found Rim of the World out of Running Springs. I went out quite alot with them with my stock jeep, and it really honed my driving skills, because there were no lockers or anything to really help, just the torque of the vehicle. Ran with a 2" lift and 31" tires for many years, and it was almost a perfect vehicle. Got talked into a 6" lift and 35" tires, and boy was that a mistake. Sadly I've let the jeep go for financial reasons but it will always be in my heart as some of the funnest recreation I ever had. Have my eye on a Rubicon if things ever turn for us.
    Again, Happy Thanksgiving !!

Thanks for the goodie! And I know what you mean about crack jokes. I said something to my sister years ago and knew then I had to monitor what I say depending on who I was with. She couldn't grasp the concept that it was a joke and a form of stress relief.
