Hi
I joined SparkPeople in September 2010 but until January of 2016 I was just an occasional "participant" and never seemed to be able to stay the course for more than 2-3 months. By the end of 2015 I'd reached my highest weight ever.

I became a consistent "Spark user" in January 2016, becoming more involved with teams and challenges including the 5% Weight Loss challenges. I made a strong commitment to developing an exercise "habit" and with better diet and exercise, lost about 62 pounds, coming within 6 pounds of my initial goal weight. That's where I sat for the rest of 2017. Unfortunately since then, some of that lost weight (close to 20 pounds) has come back. I'm now working towards losing those extra pounds and hope to lose another 10 pounds by the end of July 2020.
While I have good general health, I knew that excess weight and lack of activity were not conducive to staying healthy long term. As the grandma of an active 7 year old grandson, I want to be around for a LONG time and be able to keep up with him.

I have done five 5% Challenges since the spring of 2016 as a member of the Awesome A's team and made some great Spark friends during those challenges. I was thrilled that I not only made my goal of losing 11 lbs in my first challenge but surpassed it by a little bit! The challenge motivated me to bump up my exercise which probably helped me to reach my goal. Unfortunately I haven't quite made it to my goals in subsequent challenges although I did lose just over 50% of my goal in the Winter (2020) Challenge and 25% of my goal in the Spring challenge. During the Winter challenge I accepted another challenge - that of becoming an EL (extra leader) on our team and I had fun working with our leadership team in the Spring 2020 challenge. Looking forward to another round of fun in the Summer 2020 challenge.

Why do I continue to do challenges? I find that they keep me motivated to keep exercising and eating mindfully. I probably exercise a little more and track more carefully during challenges because I want to have a loss - or at least no gain - on weigh in days. And they can be lots of fun as I meet more people and try to do a bit better with each week.

Glad you survived the storm and was able to get on the internet. By the way, I would count the going up and down the stairs as long as they were done in 10 minute increments. That could be quite a workout...well for me it would be because where I live the overpasses on the freeway are the hills. emoticon I hope the rest of your visit with your mom goes well and you have safe travels home. emoticon

HI Sue!! Awww always so AWSOME to hear from you!! So glad you get to go up to your Moms and your Sis and BIL get a chance to relax etc. I HOPE they can make it to their 50th wedding anniversary!! That's a BIG ONE not many make it to!! That'd be GRAND. If not, I am sure they'll still have a lovely time.

WOOHOO hey the A's are the #1 LANDING TEAM for week 3!! emoticon !!! We are the #2 team!! SOOOOOO emoticon both of our teams have BEATEN THE emoticon !!! emoticon !!! I LOVE THIS!!! You all landed at 4:56 AM today and we landed at 6:05 AM!! OH EXCITING for our teams!!!

The woof woofs are doing so much than they had in the Summer. Oh the NEO is a HARD ONE for the dawgs!! YO!!! As we know Dawgs ARE A VERY Sociable animal. This week they're doing better, and our weighs in reflect that, but it's a work in progress and they'll come around even more so. Oh I miss so MANY of you all!! Sue, you are an AWESOME LEADAH and so much FUN with wondogful (OOOPS DID I just put THAT?? LOL) ideas. Keep those going. Have you ever talked to MaryAnn on the phone? She has the most LOVIEST Southern Accent!!! Plus she's so sweet!! ENJOY HER!! It's to bad we some times can't be in 3 places at the same time. :) I'd LOVE to play with you all too as well as the Dawggies. I so badly needed to be back here in the kennel to help heal from my deep loss of Maryanngi. Even just saying that I am in tears. Oh over a week ago our spreadsheet went GONE GONE GONE!! PANIC TIME BIG TIME!! YO YO YO!! Thankfully MaryAnn (squest) let me copy the ones I had brought over to the A team!! PHEW!!! Strangely not all the formula's transferred over, but I was able to figure them out in time. OH I HOPE that NEVAH Happens again!!

I'm going in for training in a bit today. It's a LONG DAY of 7 1/2 hours. LOL I HOPE My poorah little brain is UP to this!! Some of it is likely to seem familiar, but of course policies have been updated, and technology is VERY ADVANCED, but since I kinda maybe??? Already use computers and devices (maybe I do??? LOLOL) I should be able to pick right up on this. Plus I LOVE technology. I also use their self check outs so I am familiar with those too.

WISHING YOU THE BESTEST Sue!! TY TY TY For being YOU!!! Get ready we should be in the SNOW SOON!! You sooner than I (Crying,, stomping my feet!! Oh the little guy has been teaching me (or me teaching him??) how to REALLY THROW A FIT when he's not happy. Thankfully it's not often!! NEXT TIME He does it in public if it's not at work,,, I am going to get on the floor and do the SAME!!! HAHAHAHA!! NO DOUBT he'll stop,, likely he'll grin and laugh and laugh). I won't have him as much. I told his Nana, I'll take him a few times a week for 4 ish hours. That's enough. Plus she only lives next door so when I want a KID HUG or walk, ,,, she'll happily let me grab him.
