Most of my life I have ignored my weight or good health guidelines. I know part of it was that every time I started to eat for better health I was opposed and belittled by those around me that proclaimed they loved me. At 18, while away from home, I went vegetarian and when I returned home I bought a copy of "Diet for a Small Planet" and tried to stick with the diet. My family began to tell the great lies "all things in moderation" or "a little won't hurt you" along with telling me how life without meat and dairy were paths to destruction because it was unhealthy.
They also said this about giving up sodas and sugar when I tried to go without them. I should have been stronger and resisted the temptation but I could not stand the thought of rejection by my family. My ex-husband threw a fit about unhealthy I was (and I was) so I started a diet and worked out every day for 2-3 hours and lost 50 lbs. He then moved us to Los Angeles and promptly began to sabotage my every move. There was no good time to work out because I was disturbing his family who lived next door or himself. He refused to eat anything healthy and wanted to party all the time.
Finally, I gave up all thoughts of trying to do better things for my health. Now, I am here to work on myself and become the best me I can become which means I need a smaller body to accomplish some of my goals. So at 50 years young I am starting (again) on a path towards health and wellness. I hope to encounter a few people who can accompany me and that we can help each other on our journey.

    East Texas huh? I live in Longview. I am a former WW leader and lost all my weight on WW. I have become more active with SP and love this site. Why don't you think about becoming a member of NE Texans Getting Fit team? I am a new co-leader and am looking for more particpants. We'd love to see you jump on and get involved.

    My co-leader of that team lives in Daingerfield. We would love to get a walking group started that could meeting occaisionlly for fitness and fellowship.
