Fitness and well being are the effects of habits. I should know. I have lots of habits. Many of them are not particularly skillful. This takes time and patience and practice. I have plenty of time. Not too bad on patience. And the leisure to practice. Besides...this is fun.

My Goals:
Goal:
Lose 5 pounds.
And then lose 5 pounds. And then lose 2 pounds. And then celebrate!

My Program:
1. Eat in the Mediterranean style
2. Plan all meals and snacks and say No Choice to anything unplanned
3. Schedule shopping and meal prep. Be prepared. Make it a priority.
5. Eat sitting at the table.
6. Log fitness and track nutrients in Spark trackers
7. Use distractions to manage cravings.
8. Weigh every day
9. Read my list of reasons why I want to lose weight every day
10. Exercise every day

Personal Information:
I lost 30 pounds using Spark tools and kept most of it off though I never reached my desired goal. Recently I started to creep back up. So I looked up Cognitive Behavior and weight loss and up popped the "Beck Diet Solution". It is a perfect fit with the Spark tools and the Mediterranean plan. And I am having fun. Fun is very important to me. I live on Outer Cape Cod and part time in the hills of Western Massachusetts. I love being surrounded by natural beauty. I left a successful career protecting land and helping people appreciate and enjoy nature. Now my time is my own to pay attention to wellbeing and fitness when and how I wish. Luxury!

Other Information:
I love companion animals especially my current dog Lilly. My husband is plenty cool too and is supportive of my losing weight. I love the beach and my favorite exercise is swimming outdoors or walking on beautiful beaches with my pooch.

So glad you're enjoying Corner Gas -- there is a pretty distinctive "Canadian culture" up here which does produce some unusual shows!!

And: some of our very best Canadians joined us during the Viet Nam era so ya know . . . migration north IS possible (no wall at our southern boundary . . . )

This portion of your comment on SLENDERELLA161's blog today jumped out at me.

"The instinct to stand on the scale is evidence of our life affirming drives."

2018 was a very rough year for me medically and 2019 has been cruel already. I have been going through my almost-annual debate of whether to stay or go on SP (staying). I've been questioning why I continue to record my weight and record my steps when I've stopped tracking my nutrition. Well, I now realize I've gotten DOWN IN, BUT NOT OUT OF, my ongoing quest for better health -- my life-affirming drive. Thank you for sparking this realization.

Yes, I too see the affinity between 3PGC and Buddhist concepts of accepting what IS: although perhaps with less focus on "suffering". It's the curiosity and freshness of conscious attention to what my body wants (REALLY wants) now -- and my confidence that I can determine that and provide it too.

Happy New Year's to you!! I reread my 3PGC blogs (they're on page 12 of my "archives") and realized, this stuff has REALLY stuck with me for sure. Just the right idea at the right moment which coheres with who I "am" anyhow.

I'm grateful you engaged in your political hiatus (see Elizabeth Warren is continuing the good fight) AND really glad you're right back here at Spark People again too.
