Hi my name is Lori, and I am on a life long journey to change the way I feel and think about weight and food forever. I must say I wish this was a journey I was not on, I wish these principals would have been instilled into me at a young age. But it's better to be lost somewhere in the wastelands, at least moving and making progress, than idly sitting by and watching my life spin out of control.

*Update* Well in April of 2010 , after I found I had some serious gallbladder issues, my boyfriend Tyler and I started to get really serious about taking control of our weight and health. I've learned the meaning of eating healthy and clean and started to only eat veggies, fruits, lean meats, and complex carbs. We started to power walk for 2 miles a day and slowly started to jog those two miles. I also started a weight training program, lifting heavy 3 days a week. Suddenly I felt the change that I have been waiting to feel all my life, not just losing weight, but how to actually control and manage my weight and health, not it controlling and managing me. I have lost a total 75 lbs so far and I honestly feel like a different person, I never thought this active healthy person could be me, I always thought it was for people with more discipline when In reality it was like Nike says "Just do it" I still have a little bit to go to reach my ultimate goal, but now I don't feel so hopeless or lost, I know that I can actually do it and it's not as hard or complicated as I thought! Hooray for life's discoveries!

My Goals:
To feel healthy, to not want to crawl in a hole and die every time I see a picture of me or try on clothes. To be able to wear that size 6 bikin I bought next summer :-)

My Program:
I'm starting to excercise and eating foods that make me feel better, instead of food that only tastes good for the moment. Also water seems to be helping a lot, I wasn't getting NEARLY enough fluids before.

Hi and thank you, Lori!! That was absolutely NOT rambling and I very much appreciate your added input to the *discussion* because I think you added quite a bit! As in, "BINGO!" It just goes to show you how very many many layers there are to all of the garbage we're needing and learning to deal with. Some of us, for whatever reason (and we're figuring that part out too) have been *trained* only too well to only value the needs and opinions of others instead of looking to ourselves to set the goals and give the feedback. If we're ever going to end this cycle of self-abuse, we're going to have to keep rooting out the stuff that causes it.

Good to hear from you! I hope you're doing okay.
