Thanks for stopping by my Spark Page.

I started out here in 2009. At that time, I was a single mom to three wonderful kids. I lost 44 pounds, got off the couch, with the help of C25K, and become a marathoner, a cyclist, and now a swimmer and triathlete.

I got married in December 2014. My husband, a 3X Ironman was an amazing support for my health and wellness journey. Unfortunately, he completed suicide in January of 2016, after being placed on testosterone replacement.

The fact that he took his life was hard enough. But in our case, he did so in my presence. Right before my eyes. That act took a lot from me. It stole a lot of my life, too. I know he wasn't trying to hurt me. He must have been hurting so terribly to do what he did. And I had no idea. I think that medicine did something in his brain and he just couldn't take it anymore.

After his death, I have regained most of the 40 pounds I had taken off with a lot of hard work and determination and a little help from my friends at SparkPeople. So I am back to start anew.

I am miserable much of the time. I am without my love, my soulmate, my running partner, my everything. And I have been fueling my sadness with food, stuffing my emotions down with whatever happens to be handy. It doesn't help my emotional state to do so.

I am hoping 2017 will give me a new outlook on life.

Good luck on your journey. Stop by and say HI. Make me a friend. I will try to encourage you and hope you'll do the same.

Personal Information:
I am a reformed couch potato. Thanks to Spark People and the C25K program, I can't get enough exercise. I can't get enough of the outdoors. I loathe sitting on my rear as life passes me by. There is so much beauty out there yet to be discovered.

I sometimes don't realize how old I am. People repeatedly revel in reminding me. But I truly have more energy now than I had when I was in my 20s.

Other Information:
I love hiking, kayaking, going out dancing.

Sorry if I gave the impression i was offended by your blog because I definitely was not - I guess that's the trouble with written responses like this because it's hard to interpret sometimes. Anyway, I was not offended in any way and admire you for taking the stance your slower metabolism is a blessing for keeping you aware. I had never considered that perspective myself!!

As for me, I know I do have a super-slow metabolism and don't know why that has occurred but I'm coming around to accepting my body as it is and being glad it generally functions well for me, in spite of being much heavier than I'd like to be. I wish you the besst with your journey and hope it;'s all good between us now!!
