Hi y'all! I'm Amanda, a writer and SAHM from San Antonio, TX. I was previously on Spark under the name POOKASLUAGH, where I lost 105 lbs and maintained that loss for two years. From 2014 to 2017, my family became nomadic. Through four cross-country moves over three years coupled with some severe trauma, my health suffered. I regained about 80 lbs, and have been maintaining that new weight since mid-2016.

Starting in 2020, I'm back on the health and fitness train and pushing forward with slow, steady loss. I look forward to reaching my goal and being the active, fit, healthy person I once was and wish to be again.

My Goals:
I've chosen 150 lbs as a general goal at a healthy BMI, slightly lower than I ever got on my previous journey. However, more important than the number is the vision: I want to be strong, flexible, healthy, kind, and confident, both externally and internally. Other goals include:

- To get up from cross-legged to standing without using my hands or knees
- To do 30+ full push-ups without stopping
- To be able to hang from the pull-up bar for 30+ seconds
- To do 5+ pull-ups
- To be able to run a 5K again
- To fit into non-plus-size clothes
- Complete a full downward dog pose (heels down) - DONE!
- To be able to do jumping jacks for a full minute again
- To be able to do skater/pistol squats on each leg
- To be able to hold a crow pose
- To fit into my wedding ring again
- To fit into my wedding dress again
- To improve my insulin level (insulin resistance, PCOS) enough to be off Metformin - DONE!
- Try out cross-fit
- To weigh less than my h


My Program:
I'm a big advocate of You Do You, and think this journey is unique to each of us.

Things that work for me: yoga, walking, running, moderate diet without severe restrictions, talk therapy, touch therapy, social support (especially in-person), higher carb/lower fat nutrition, and body positivity. I don't lose weight when I'm depressed regardless of the calories in vs calories out equations, and 80% of my weight loss depends on fitness. I won't lose weight without exercise, and I cannot out-diet a sedentary lifestyle.

Things that DON'T work for me: prayer, detoxification diets, heavy strength training, HIIT, low-carb programs, calorie-restriction alone, and meatless diets.
