I can't be the only one who has noticed - you don't 'lose' weight, you have to fight it off. You have to keep the fat and calorie laden foods out of your mouth, and you have to keep your fat and calorie laden behind off the couch.

I lost almost 40 pounds when I joined Spark in '08. In '09, not so much. I got out of exercising, and slid back into poor food choices. I haven't gained it all back, but I'm well on my way. And I just can't go there again.

I aim to get back down to where I was. Not fast and furious, with a diet and exercise program I can't stick with. But slowly and steadily, with smaller food portions, and an increase in activity. Small changes that will become a natural part of my life, not a temporary, "until I get down to," phase.

The battle begins. . .

Please join me on a Fabulous Spark Team-Time to Shine in Oh-9!

When you join, the leader, Shawnatony, will set up your very own thread, where you can check in daily to journal your workouts, your nutrition, or just your thoughts. You will soon find that others on the team will drop by your thread and say hi, support you in your efforts, encourage you in your goals, and become great friends.

I know that I could not have achieved my current weight loss without SparkPeople, but I believe I would have left SparkPeople months ago, if it had not been for LOSIN' THE WEIGHT IN 2008! (the name of the team when i joined) Ladies on this team have encouraged and motivated me every step of the way, and most of what I have done has been for them-so I wouldn't let them down. I know that they are behind me, cheering me on.

If it's not with this team, I sincerely hope that you will become ACTIVE in a team on Spark. It is the community of support that will keep you Sparkin', day in and day out. I wish you Spark-cess!!!

Update 8/8/8

Wow! In 12 weeks on Spark, I have come so far. I have faithfully logged my nutrition and fitness. I have increased my activity-going from just walking, to adding Turbo Jam and Pilates. I have proven to myself that I am in control of what goes into my mouth.

I had hoped that my family would support me, and go on this journey with me. However, despite the lack of support on the homefront, I have managed to lose over 25 pounds.

I owe most of that success to YOU. To everyone here on Spark, who has either supported or inspired or encouraged me to do this. I know that I have a support group here that I have never had before. This support is truly essential to my success, and I just want to thank everyone who has contacted me even just once. Every comment, every Goodie, every reply to a post. . .each one has been a personal boost for me.

So, who motivates me? YOU! Thank you for making me realize that it's possible, for helping me get up when I just wanted to sit down, for keeping me on track while dining out, for everything! I take you all with me, every day, and I couldn't do it without you!

Here we go again. . .Tired of looking like an old lady, wearing old lady clothes. I weigh more than ever, and I am tired of the Yo-Yo cycle. I sincerely hope that SparkPeople.com is going to help me (and my family) stay on track this time.

I've heard that journaling your food intake, exercise, and feelings really help you stay focused, and I intend to use all of the tools provided here to that end. To the end. The end.
