I joined Spark back in August 2007. I went from 190 to 140 pounds in roughly six months the first time, which was awesome,
but maintaining has always been a struggle.

I love to walk. In January of 2014 a very good friend of mine talked me into doing the Space Coast (Half) Marathon. It is the longest running Marathon in the state of Florida and a qualifying race for the Boston Marathon. From January to November I trained to walked 13.1 miles. My best training time was 2:57 and I was happy with that. On race day I walked with my friend and we timed in at 3:33. I was disappointed but was happy to complete the race with my friend.

The following January my husband got the crazy idea of doing the full marathon. Walking 26.2 miles. The thought was completely overwhelming but we signed up. Again, training through summer! Unfortunately my husband ended up with an injury and was not able to complete his race. I finished at 6:11, not too bad but missing my goal of 6 hours. I felt great to have accomplished 26.2 miles, but made the decision to stick with half marathons in the future!

I signed up for the half marathon once more in January. My goal was to walk/sprint the 13.1 miles in 2:45. On the morning of November 27th, 2016 I was very nervous. I had had a rough couple of months and my training was off and I was not at my best. I followed a group that was also trying for 2:45. At the finish line the time said 2:44:33.

It is time to change up my routine. I detest weight training, but I know how important it is. This year I will be adding weight training, bicycle riding with my son and kickboxing. Time to change it up!

I am back up to almost 160 pounds again. My goal is to get back to 135. I did it once, I can do it again! THIS time it won't go back up!

And yes, I will be doing the Space Coast (Half) Marathon in 2017!

    Hello my friend!

It has been a long time since I've poked around SP, I usually come to hang out in Gonna B Fit moms, track my breakfast and lunch (but hardly ever my dinner!) and basically just stay in the same place. But I thought I'd see who might still be around, and it looks like you were here at least a couple of months ago and you continue to work at it and look like you're doing okay!

Congrats on the half- and full marathons! I'm so glad you are still here and working at it, I hope to get back on the fitness wagon myself someday, but unfortunately I am in need of a hip replacement and haven't been able to schedule my surgery yet. My goal is to be done with it by early spring so I can spend the spring and summer getting mobile again.

Anyway, just thought I'd drop in, have no idea if you ever check your page anymore, but I wanted to say hello.

    Hello, SparkFriend,
Gryffindor emoticon Hufflepuff emoticon Ravenclaw emoticon Slytherin emoticon
I realize you have teams that work and teams that don't. Sometimes trying out a new team finds a fit.

Today, I am going through my SparkFriend's list, on my SparkPage and sending out an invitation. Please come check out our HOGWARTS Winter*Term Owl*Mail team (located as my 1st team under my teams). It is set up for a waiting list to the upcoming winter*term. We have a 12 wk challenge (multiple choices) designed for your own personal 'fit' and, Challengers of HOGWARTS winter*term 2, is coming up, on December 1st. It is a private team, so you need to join the owl*mail team if you want to be Sorted.

I created a blog about it, today, so please stop in and read it. If you're looking for a really refreshing new way to focus on your goals and form new friendships plus join in the celebrations of the seasons in a *fun* virtual online wizarding world ... please come.

Join me for a whole new adventure.
